My grandson has a baby River Cooter. When we got him, he did not eat for quite a while. Now he comes to the front of the tank any time someone stands there. If we put food in, he always eats -- sometimes 4 times a day. Is it possible to overfeed and how would we know?

Also -- what can we feed him in addition to the commercial pellets?

Please respond ONLY if you have had a similar situation to this or you are an exotic veterinarian or breeder of leopard geckos. . .We found our little leopard gecko, Gidgette, dead in ther cage. We don't know exactly how old she was, but we got her about 3 years ago from a reptile show. According to my daughter, she had been refusing her food. We also found what appeared to be a bloody stoole in her cage. I believe she may have had internal parasites???

I have a spotted python, Cleopatra - she's 4 years old. She has not eaten since August 20th. She has shed twice since then. For a while she was REALLY active, like she was hunting - so I'd give her a live mousie and sh'd just follow it around - not even striking. I consulted a local herpetologist and he said that maybe she was looking for a mate....well I'm not set up for breeding (plus, spotteds are hard to find around here)...so I pushed the temp in her cage up another 5 degrees (87 degrees). That settled her down, but now she still isn't eating. She comes out from under her little tree cave to drink, she shed again last week........I'm worried about her.

I don't want to force feed her if I don't absolutely have to!

Any suggestions? Help?!?!

I've had my ball python for about 2 yrs now. When i bought him from Petco., He was the last in the tank and they said that he would snap at the store employees from time to time. In the 2 yrs i've had him, he never once snapped at me or bit me.

Within the past month he has developed a severe attitude problem. After he finished his last shed he began snapping at me whenever i tried to hold him. he still eats fine on his regular schedule but is to the point where even if i walk past the cage or attempt to hold him he is striking at me. Im not sure what to do.

I have him in a 20 gal. tank with a climbing tree, 1/2 log and water dish inside. The temperature and humidity are the same as i have had them for the past 2 yrs. I feed him 2 mice bi-weekly and hold him for about 30 min a day. It's been about a month since i have held him and im worried that he will continue to be aggressive and that i will not be able to hold him at all. Any help is greatly appreciated

He kicks his back legs out spastically or shakes his arms and head. It seems like a seizure almost. This first happened almost a month ago when we put him back in the tank after cleaning it and is now happening again. Should I take him to a vet? Has anybody ever heard of this?

I'm currently researching crested geckos because I plan on getting one in a few weeks, I'm trying to read everything I can about them so I know what I'm doing when I get it, so far my research is internet based and I've found about 4 really good and helpful sites, the only thing is they tell you vaugly what food is good for them, crickets, fruits and such, but not how often to feed them. so I need some help with that, if you are or have been an owner of a crested, could you please tell me a good feeding schedule I guess is what I'm trying to ask for, also include the food you feed =)

Thanks in advance

My girlfriend keeps leaving kittens at the house. I have a 9 foot burmese that I usually let out when I get home from work. I sat him down and talked to him about the kittens and specifically said NOT to eat them when they are playing. He seemed to understand but when the kittens start to run amok he always seems to lose his cool. I am very frustrated with him! I put him in time out but it doesn't seem to work. Can I take him to obedience school with the other animals so he can learn that eating kittens is a no-no?

and when I firsty bought her she was very tame, she still is but I'm afraid to take her out of the cage, I know that when they do that S shape means they feel threatened and they're going to attack, mine does that but sometimes she just looks like she's waiting for me to hold her.. what's the safe and correct way to take her out without scaring her and without hurting her???

and of course the safest way for me to do it?
