A cobra seldom bites itself. If they died just from having the venom in their bodies there wouldn't be any cobras.

Cobras, be it any type spectacled, monacle, egyptian or the mighty king cobra all of them have venom and they don't die of their own bite because sometimes when they hunt for prey and bite themselves accidentaly, the venom is secreted from the venom glands in the roof of the cobra's mouth through hollow fangs that act like hypodermic needles.Foremost you have to understand that the cobra's venom is a naturaly produced enzyme, like our very own saliva, saliva breaks down all food in our mouth before it is swallowed, why does it not break down our own tissue in our mouth..? well because we are immune to it and have resistances like epithelial skin membrane in our mouth.Similarly cobras venom is a natural enzyme that is made for rapid digestion and break down of tissue,be it nerves ,cells,or muscular tissue the damage is diffrent for diffrent snakes depending on the type of venom ,Cytotoxic, haemotoxic, neurotoxic etc. These venoms cause rapid breakdown of tissue in the form of necrosis and paralysis of cells,in humans and other animals, but when a cobra bites itself it is not affected because it has in its body a glycogen or a glucose molecule of a particular type that has a T shape and attaches itself to the cells in the cobras blood stream and other tissues rendering it immune to its own venom, more research is going on on this subject in australia.

the cobra doesn't die of his own venom because this is his protection it is "vacinated" from his own venom... it is just not working on him and he makes it.
