You do get some silly people answering snake questions! Snakes are beautiful animals and make great pets.
The Egg-Eating snake can make a great pet. They don't get too large, and they don't eat rodents so they're great if you hate the idea of handling dead mice. They're typically good-tempered and are attractive little creatures. The only problem you might have is finding eggs for a baby; young egg-eater snakes need something like quail eggs, and quail eggs are not always available for certain parts of the year. However, if you have a supply of eggs to hand, or you can buy an adult snake which can eat chicken eggs, go for it!

It's already been said, but I just want to emphasize what the others are saying. There may be snakes that can and will eat eggs, but they are carnivores and are not meant to survive on eggs. Eating eggs is more of a last-resort meal for a snake, I believe. If you aren't at least comfortable with feeding a snake frozen dead rodents, then you definitely need to get another pet. Human digestive systems work very differently from snakes, which is why we can have varied diets and choose to eat meat or not and still thrive. Most other organisms are different. Seriously, I'll say it again: do not get a snake if you won't feed it properly! If you want a vegetarian reptile, get a turtle or a lizard of some kind.

It takes a different breed of person to even want a snake for a pet. My family has always said........It must be bad if they call it snake...... 'cause if it wasn't bad they wouldn't call it snake.
