Wondering how long beardies live for. I have read in different books it is anywhere from 7 to 15 years. My beardie is 5 years old and we've had her since she was 6 weeks old.

My python is about 9-10 months old and 3 feet long. Just recently a larger- small rat attacked him after he went for the rat. the rat kept biting his back. luckily my snake knows the top of the box is always open, so he shot straight up out the box once the rat was attacking him. nearly 4 weeks have gone by since then, and he will not even eat a small mouse. not only, but tonight he shed, and from the looks of the scars now on his back, some spots are red and missing scales. i was told that these would heal after he shed. but that seems to be false. is there anything i can do to aid him so he heals? or are these scars now permanant ?

I would really like to have a colorful chameleon, but I keep hearing that they are difficult to care for and are not very social. I want something that's social and moderately challenging to easy to care for.

I make sure my snakes have proper habitats....just like I do my dogs and cats......I'm just trying to understand your logic (and start a fuss).

the tank and placing her in a cardboard box, with a basking lamp above it. I leave her there a couple of hours, then I return her to the tank. Is this method fine until I find the right turtle landing? Is there any issue I need to be aware as far as the potential temperature change?

I have an adult female Red Eared Slider. I didn't know that they needed that special lamp ( i think its called a uv ray lamp) until recently. I bought a 50 watt one and I placed my turtle under it. She stayed for 2 seconds and rushed back into the water. Is this normal? Was the lamp to close and hot for her?
This is also the first time she has been under one.

This turtle has a 30 gallon tank with a floating dock that it LOVES to bite/eat. We recently replaced it again with a brand new fixture so there's nothing really... tasty... about it but it still chews it!
Is he/she bored? Hungry? ... Crazy?
The tank itself is pretty simple; dock, underwater filter, underwater heater, light, background and no gravel bottom. There is a small plastic fake turtle on the bottom we recently put in to give him a 'companion' but it's not helping.
Any suggestions?

He is eating fine and doesn't appear to be depressed. He swims around, then lays under the heat lamp. There are two turtles in the tank. We believe both are males, but I don't know for sure. They are relatively small, about 2 inches across the shell. We have a painted turtle and a mississippi map turtle. Like I said, they are both acting fine, it just looks like the painted turtle's skin may be a little discolored, and poofy (for lack of a more descriptive term). His shell seems fine, it does look like it might be lifting up around the edges. If you can give me any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
