I have a 50 gallon tank, and the turtle in there is only about 6 inches long and i really want a new turtle

Maps get along OK with several other species- as long as the habitat is big enough for them.

The rule of thumb is about 10 gallons fo swimming space per inch of turtle. Your 6"er would be happier in a 60 gallon pool of its own. If you added another similar sized turtle, you'd want 120 gallons for the pond, or risk them fighting and have complications in the cleaning and so forth.

By the way- many of us use big plastic Rubbermaid-type tubs or kiddie pools for keeping several turtles just to give them enough room!

any similiar size and type turtle that has the same requirements would be compatable
