ok, fourty years is bull sh*t. But average they live 8-12. AVERAGE. Some live longer, and some can live as long as 20 years; but it is very rare to see a beardie past 12. One of mine is only 6 months, the other is 8 years old. So, he is an old fart; but he still acts young.

in captivity they can become as old as 20 years, but it all depends if you look after her well. she must be supplied with plenty of supplements, readily available at petshops these days. also cater for her changing dietary needs. she will eat what she wants, but fresh is best. i found my beardie loved meat more than veg, and never touched the store bought pellets. live baby mice gave him a good chase.
also maybe consider getting her a mate. socialize with her a lot too. take her out when you hit the shops. they are very curious.

I thought the average was about 10 years. Our last one was a 9 year old male.
