Hi there;

Your red ear slider has an upper respiratory infection and needs to see a vet ASAP if he/she is going to make it through to tomorrow.
If you do not have an emergency vet office that you can get your pet to tonight then do the follow until tomorrow AM when you can contact your vet's office directly.
Keep the turtle warm by raising the temp of the tank up to at least 80 - 85 degrees F.
Raise the water temp too. (86 to 88 degrees F please)
If you do not have UVB lighting, get some now.
Watch for poor eating, your pet may not be getting the nutrition it needs. For stimulation go get some trout worms from the store and dangle two or three of them in front of your pet. Most, if not all, turtles will find trout worms irresistible and readily eat them.

PS. Yes, there are vets that do handle exotics and herps. You can find them in the yellow pages.

Sadly, baby Red-ear sliders (RES) are hard to properly care for. It sounds like yours has a toufh of pneumonia. Try this:

1. Make sure it is in a good tank. A good tank would offer at least 10 gallons of swimming space per inch of turtle, the water would be heated to 75-80 degrees (a bit warmer if the turtle is sick) and have filtration about 2-3 times stronger than a fish tank.

2. Make sure it has good basking sites that are not drafty, are heated to about 90, and that the lighting offers 'UV-B' rays. If the bulb package does not say it does, it probably does not.

3. Give it a good diet of a high-quality pelleted food supplimented with live or well-preserved 'fish food' items like worms, bugs, small fish, shrimp, etc. Baby RES usually like live bloodworms.

i do no longer understand plenty approximately RES turtles yet i understand new pets (incredibly youthful and smaller pets) get very under pressure whilst bringing them domicile. i do no longer think of you will desire to ever stress feed an animal. My dogs hasn't eaten for 2 weeks bc he replaced into so ill. I in basic terms stress fed him his drugs in a small ball of meat. attempt stay nutrition. Dig up some earthworms, thats what I do for my bearded dragon whilst he's no longer ingesting.
