She is getting quite fat and she never goes in her wheel she just chews on the bars of her cage. She has plenty of chew things in her cage but still chews the bar. I have had a few pet hamsters in the past and all of those have spent most the night running in there wheel.

This question is in regards to the case of the polar bear cub that was rejected by its mother in Berlin. The activists say the the cub should be allowed to die. The cub is being taken care of at a zoo by a zoo keeper around the clock.

I just rescued 2 PMU black percheron mares from ND. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on what the best feed there is for drafts? I do know there is a muscular desease out there that affects them if they get to much sugar or starch. These mares have been on the line for several years and I'm going to give them an early retirement, any imput would be appreciated.

I have seen in pet questions--alot of answers--(some very rude) they only read part of the question before answering! I just saw 1 about a dog on a leash--the answer was--well if the dog was on a leash!!!!! Sometimes the question is not what it seems at first--IF you read ALL of it!!

I don't have a lot of money but would like to get a horse. We have 5 acres of pasture that is green most of the year except for summer, would we have to feed it extra stuff, or can it graze for most of the year? Also assuming we get an average horse how often will it need a vet???

With the recall of just about every wet pet food thats sold in the USA I started to wonder...how do we know its not all the same stuff under different labels? Is IAMS really better than Alpo? Has anyone compared the 2 labels to see if they have the same ingredients in the same order? If it's all certified by the pet food folks who ceritfy these things is one really any different'?

By acting as extreme, irrational and ridiculous as they do, they're actually turning people off of animal rights and therefore indirectly harming animals.

Just wandering, I would like to see more places where you can actually see the people working one the dogs rather than having the dogs behind closed doors.

I saw a house in Van Nuys, Ca. with probably 15-20 cats outside in poor condition and I saw many more inside today. An elderly lady lives there and I suspect she is a hoarder. I called the East Valley Animal Shelter to report the abuse and to tell them of the condition of the cats and they were not really interested in helping. They said they needed to send out a letter to the owner first then they would respond to the owners response. I couldn't believe it. I told them I wondered if the cats would respond to the letter if they were still alive when it arrived. We don't have a lovely program like animal precinct in NYC or Phoenix or Miami or Houston or Detroit, we in Los Angeles county have no support system for abused animals, Does anyone out there know where to turn to for help? Poor kitties need help. They looked sick and underfed and in need of rescuing fast.

He is new from the pet store and is pretty good at going into our hands. He just seems very edgy though. Does this go away (if so how long?) or are they always like that?
Also what household snacks are safe to treat them to - I read somewhere peanuts and fruit (what kind?)

I grew up with animals and I have respect for them and I want to give my daughter the same opportunity. We already have a dog but hes an older male dog and although he puts up with her he's not nearly the friendly playful kind. (Tends to run from her when she gets too hyper near him). We bought a bird a year ago but its not tame enough for her to touch and play with and We just bought her a "Nemo" fish and she was excited for about a day because all she can do is look at it. Cats are not an option at this time.

So, In ya'lls opinions whats the best small pet for a three year old?
