Ferrets are not rodents and if it were to ingest the cloth then it could have serious health issues. He may be biting on it because of the laundry detergent you use to clean the cloth. You should only use the hypo-allergenic kind because it has no scent and your ferret could have an allergic reaction to the scented kind. As for the bedding an old t-shirt or fleece blanket are about the only safe type of cloth a ferret can have as bedding. If you are using something else you may want to switch, if not switch the detergent.

FERRETS ARE NOT RODENTS. If you don't know what you're talking about, it's best not to say anything at all.
But they do like to dig and chew. Just make sure he can't tear pieces of the bedding off and swallow them because it's a choking hazard. No cotton "fuzz" or anything else they can swallow and choke on. Check out www.theferretstore.com for some great ferret bedding.

Corn is also Bad for them..... I use Wood pellets (for wood stoves) Avoid Cedar as all costs. Ferrets are Meat eaters and cannot Digest Fruits / Vegatables. the digestive cycle is only 3 hours. Canned Pupmkin will work as a laxative if you're worried about them eating the fabric and it causing a Blockage. It's normal Behavior of young Kits to chew & tear stuff..(they're working on getting adult teeth in)

first let me just say that ferrets are not rodents, they are in fact mammals, and please dont put wood chips or kitty litter in their pen with them. they tend to chew it from time to time, and the corn stuff is alot safer if they swallow it. what i buy is a ground up corn stalk and it works perfect, i get mine at petco, but about the chewing i`m not sure but it could be that he or she is unhappy with it because my two ferrets have a hammet like thing they sleep in and so has ever other ferret i ever seen has had something similar to sleep in. i have never seen one just to sleep on bedding. but maybe it`s because he doesn`t like it, or either he or she is sick i`m not sure. i have a web that might help you out or at least point you in the right direction it is www.maferrets.org/info/facts
maybe this will answer some of your quiestion

Its a rodent and rodents tend to tear up pieces of cloth and what not to make soft beds. This is completely normal and you might want to think about getting ferret fuzz. Cotton that you can find in any pet store that caged animals tear up to make a nest basically. Also get it hamster blocks. Colorful pieces of wood to chew on. And just know anything you stick in an animals cage at some point will get chewed up.

awww this is perfectly normal ferret behavior. offer him food but, if not wanted, leave him be and let him have fun. as long as he doesnt ingest it hes perfectly fine.
