With the recall of just about every wet pet food thats sold in the USA I started to wonder...how do we know its not all the same stuff under different labels? Is IAMS really better than Alpo? Has anyone compared the 2 labels to see if they have the same ingredients in the same order? If it's all certified by the pet food folks who ceritfy these things is one really any different'?

I think there are some companies that are slightly better than others. Actually I have been reading a lot about this lately and have found out some pretty disturbing things. I read that the meat and grain companies sell all the "extra" stuff that is left over that has been labeled as "not fit for human consumption" to the pet food companies. I have also read that most pet food is something like 50% grains and dogs don't even need grains. There is some other disgusting stuff as well, like what they use to preserve the food (give it a longer shelf life), but I wont go into that. I have switched my pets over to nature's variety raw frozen foods, because raw meat is a much more species appropriate diet, I can actually pronounce all the ingredients (and know what they are) and there is no grain, only 95% meat and 5% fruits and veggies. The only problem with that, is it's more expensive. There is a B.A.R.F diet (Bones and raw food), which in my opinion is the best. But it's a homemade diet and takes research and planning to get it right. If your interested in finding out more about the BARF diet I would recommend the "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats - The Ultimate Diet" by: Kymythy R. Schultze book. Also if I have to feed kibble to my pets for some reason I like the Innova brand best. Go to this website for more info: http://www.doggiedaycareandmotel.com/quality_pet_food.html

In answering overdue - it fairly depends upon what you feed, how a lot you feed, and wherein you purchase. I have two, eighty pound puppies - the more youthful will get round 2lbs an afternoon while the older puppy will get approximately a million a million/two lbs of meals an afternoon - quickly to be taken right down to a million a million/four lbs for iciness. the well being advantages a ways outweigh the fee for me. different advantages are my puppies do not stink, epidermis/fur or breath. enamel are continuously blank, coat tender and glossy, no tremendous sticky/delicate poop to manage. I more often than not spend approximately $one hundred a month on meals for my puppies. They honestly do not consume $one hundred valued at of meals a month. I fill my freezer on a per thirty days foundation so they're going to certainly not run out of meals. Although I get such a lot of my meat among $ .50 and .ninety nine consistent with pound I do purchase a kind of no longer-so-ordinary matters to feed them that can fee slightly greater than a $a million a pound.
