My rabbit, Cosmo, currently lives indoors, but I really want him outside to eliminate the smell of urine, his daily messes from the rabbit litter, and to have my room back!!! Is there a particular way to make the transition easier on him, or can I just move him outside. I live in beautiful southern california so it never snows, rarely rains, and it's usually about 65 degrees this time of year. If I move him outdoors this weekend, will he be ok?? If it starts to rain, do I bring him back indoors?? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Facts about Cosmo-
he's a 5 month old black flemish giant.
he lived outside as a kit, but moved inside at 11 wks of age.
he has a hutch about 5 ft wide and 2 ft deep which sits above the ground about 20 inches. attached to his hutch is a 4x4 ft rabbit run for him to run around in.
he has a beautiful, silky black coat.
his diet includes lots of water, pellets, alfalfa hay cubes, and lots of carrots.

Grandson had his precious little pet for about three months. It (he)...(Flash)...had evidently been experiencing 'seizures'. Why? This past Sunday morning Flash was discovered dead in his cage. Grandson (11 years old) was devastated! Also, I keep reading everywhere, that these tiny little things only have about a '2-year' life expectancey. Is that true? Because I know for certain that the Pet store told grandson he could expect a 6 to 7 year run wioth his Siberian Dwarf Hamster. Was my grandson lied to? Thank you for any offering of information.

Would you say that it is safe to remove porcupine quills yourself at home without a vet overseeing? Why or why not? Only well thought out answers are welcome so none of that "your pet could die if you do it yourself". K?

I brought some eggs about 6 months ago, they hatched and now the stick insects have started laying eggs. They are Indian Stick Insects. Does anyone know how you're supposed to look after them? How many eggs will they lay? And How long will it take for the eggs to hatch into insects?

Many thanks for your help

Can anyone give me detailed steps to take to prevent a horse from tying up again? My horse is an eventer, and works every day. What grains and food are good for him & which should I avoid? After a hard workout how do I slowly adjust his muscles again so that they don't just tie up? Do you know of any supplements that help aid in prevention? All tips are appreciated, especially from 3 day eventers and riders who have experienced this problem. Please give detailed and in depth answers. :) Thank you!

I have been thinking about getting a rat, but one of the main things which concerns me is that they are nocturnal rodents.
If you have rats your self, I'd like to know just how much noise they can make at night, as I would have to keep it in my bedroom, which isn't going to be much fun if it starts gnawing the bars while I'm trying to get to sleep. It may disturbe other people in the house aswell.
Please reply and tell me of your expiriences.
Thanx in advance,
Rachel.

We have recently bought a baby angora rabbit and recently she seems to be having a lot of sneezing fits. Is this a reaction to the straw in her bed or something else? Or is it something we need to get checked out at the vet's?

The assistant looked at me as if I was mad, saying "we do not sell wasps here" I did point out to him that he had one in the window the previous day when I walked past, but he still maintained that he did not have any. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

We had a wonderful dog, and she lived to be 15 years old. I went out and got another shortly after. He was sweet but incorrrigible, so we had to find him a new home. I got two pet rats to take his place for my heartbroken son, now mourning the loss of two dogs.
We love the rats, but still miss not having a loving dog. The rats stay in a cage, but we take them out to play with them. If we got a dog, I guess we would have to banish the rats to a back bedroom where the new dog would not be allowed to go; because if a new pet dog got to those rats; that would be terrible; and it would be all my fault. I am really struggling, and praying for discernment about what to do. What would you do if you were me?
