She's half-TB, half-Appaloosa, 16.3 hh, 15 years old. I like creative, but fitting names - like Comma for a herding dog or something (:

I have ample stored hay and a feed called 50/50 which is charf, lucern and grain mixture. He's on his own and there's now no feed in the paddock at all. He's 23 years old and not being ridden at this stage. 15.2 hands and always been a slim built appalossa. He's on the property were I live so I see him everyday of course.
Never had to hand feed him in summer before only in the winter, but with the drought there's just no grass left!! Because of his age I don't want to experiment with feed qty's and have him lose condition.
At the moment I'm giving him a big armload of hay in the morning and three big scoops of feed in the evening but he seems to be losing a litttle weight. This amount of feed in winter seems to be fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

I find it quite interesting that people seem to want to own an animal, but again they are not certain what they want. It's one thing to be researching the types of animals and animal care, but it's another thing for people to own an animal just to be owning an animal. To own an animal because others own them is not necessarily good. You need to own animals because this is what you want and not because you feel that you are an outcast. It's better to volunteer at a rescue agency if you have no means to care for them. Animals need love, food, shelter, and occassionally they need to see the vet. These all need to be addressed before you get an animal. I have seen way to many animals on the brinks of starvation (and some do die) just because people can't afford them. To find you can't afford the animal and to throw it away like garbage is very cruel. Please! Know what you are getting into before you take on an animal. They are alive. They are not inanimate objects.

sleep in, she'll sleep in all 4 corners quite happily (i'm presuming anyway) she is 16 weeks old. my previous hamster only ever slept in 1 corner, never anywhere else. is my hamster trying to tell me that she's not happy? she seems fine, loves her cuddles and i let her out every evening for a run around the kitchen. i have tried putting a nesting bed in her cage but she moved it out of the way and never laid on it. any advice would be great as i'm not sure if i'm worrying unnecessarily, feeling paranoid as i lost my other hamster very suddenly and want to keep my new hamster as happy as possible. thanks. x

my friend has 2 rabbits. 1 day she went 2 go feed them and water them and she noticed 1 of them [the biggest 1] had like a balding face...and it looked as if half of his face was missing and his eyes are like gooked shut and hes got lil scab thingy all over his face that look like dried bloody scrapes...hes just looks horrible. she takes VERY good care of them..they are outdoor bunnies about a year old and only 1 of them has this. i dont believe [nor does she] that the other 1 would've atacked him. they're good play meates. and have been in the same cage since they were about 8 wks old. what kind of diseases can bunnies get? does this sound like ne of them? plz help me here. we believe we're gonna put him down with in a cpl days here. hes just getting worse.

What I mean is I picked out our cat when he was a kitten. His mother was one of our cats and she had a liter. But when he got older he chose my husband over me and he became his cat and not mine. Has anyone else gone through this? I mean it hurts since I picked him out and took care of him but he choose my husband over me. I don't understand why I mean he's not even much of a cat lover he's more of a dog lover. I was curious to see whoelse went through this. I still love him and pet him in all. Has this happened to you?

I feel really bad, what can I do to get over being sad? I really loved my hammy but one day (yesterday) I found him on the floor of his cage lifeless, eww... I felt like throwing up and crying, I did cry, and now I feel really bad, like I feel like I wasn't a good owner, well anyways I went to the vet and cremated his body, he lived for about 4 years... I really miss him...
