I can answer your question, I have five horses and I'm training to be a vet. Horses do not eat mice. They aren't veggitarians, actually they are herbavores. They are actually VERY frightened of them. (I read some of the answers and by the way mice don't live in hay) Mice tend to dig out dirt under a rock or take dried grass and make a nest, almost like a bird.
So..... NO they do not eat mice. They do not eat mice by accident, and they don't bit them and chew them up because they don't like them.
They are very skitish and would probably spook around a horse.
They would eat one by accident in the hay, because they use they lips to rip they hay away from the big pile and the feel it then put it in there mouth.
They horse wouldn't bite them and chew them up becuase they would have been spooked or they would have just ignored them.
hope I helped :)

I have never heard of a case where horses eat mice. Maybe one particular horse did but meat is definitely not part of a horse's diet!

I own horses, and no they will not eat mice. Horses are very particular eaters and for a good reason. They are unable to throw up food. Many horses die because of bad feed.

horses do not eat mice. You might find mice in your horse feed, but they don't eat them. They are herbivores and do not eat meat, which is what a mouse is. Tell your friend she's confused.

I know that they CAN eat mice if they wanted to, but I don't believe that horses do that on a regular basis.

Hello =)
Well....they don't intentionally eat them, that's for sure..
Horses dislike mice, and will bite them to death, but I don't think they "swallow".....LOL
I've seen horses chasing mice around their stables, and if they catch them, they do kill them.
Of course, a horse will kick or bite many dogs to death as well, given the opportunity...
So, while they are vegetarians, they do possess the capacity to kill.
Namaste, and Happy New Year,
--Tom
