I had a bad joke, but you seem sweet so I'll hold off. Good luck finding your hamster!

Here's something you can try, it worked for me:

Get a shallow bucket, but one that is deep enough so the hamster cant jump out of it. Put a comfy towel at the bottom. Put some yummy smelling food in it. And then make a little ladder or ramp going up to the top of the bucket. The hamster will smell the food and climb the ramp into the bucket and wont be able to jump out again.

You can also try a havahart trap that you can get at a garden store. It is a safe trap that you put food in and it will capture your hamster and wont hurt him.

Be very quiet and listen for your little bugger at night. That is when he'll be most active and you might be able to hear him roaming around.

I had a friend who had lost her hamster and never found it. A year later she moved and she found her hamster in her new house. It turned out that the hamster had been living in the couch, and when she moved the couch to her new home the hamster came along for the ride! Good luck. I hope you find your little guy. If you dont, at least you can take this as a learning experience so it doesnt happen again.

I had this very thing happen with my kids hamsters. They chewed through their plastic cage while we were at the store and came home to find both missing. After searching for hours, we gave up and sat out some Cheetos on a plate and went to watch a movie. Literally about 15 minutes later we heard crunching and low and behold, one was eating them and the other was curiously heading that way. Nabbed them both up and got a new METAL cage. Listen for any chewing, they can and will chew on walls as well as carpet. Turn off most of the lights as well, rodents like dark.

Keep food & water in the cage. When it gets hungry, it should remember where it is & go back there. It would be a good idea to set up the lid so it can get back in but not back out again.

My daughter lost one once, & we looked all over the house. We had cats. Well, we finally found it when we heard it scratching inside a wall next to a light switch the next day. It cost more to fix the hole we made to get it out than the rodent was worth - except my daughter saw it differently, of course.

It is good to hear you have a happy reunion.

If the hamster is still in the apartment you'll find it tonight. It's probably curled up asleep somewhere right now. Listen for it tonight. Those things make a ton of noise at night.

Okay what you need to do is be very quiet and still...and listen. Try to see if he might be chewing on something. My hamster got out of his cage in the middle of the night and when we woke up, we heard him chewing on aluminum foil next to the fridge! Try to listen for noises that the hamster could be making. Goodluck! Hope you find him!.

PS. Hamsters store food in their cheeks. Chances are he has food on him so he should be fine for a while.

i lost my hamster but never found it but that doesnt mean you cant find yours.. i herd you could emty out a trash can them put some books or something under it so its slanted(make sure it can walk up the books to get into the trash can) then place some food up the steps into the can that way the hamster will slide down the trash can but wont be able to climb back out

whilst my hamster disappeared, i ought to hearken to her scratching at the back of the wall yet i could no longer get to her. This trick worked like a dream: Screw up some sheets of newspaper then straighten them out so as that they are all crinkly and rustly, then sprinkle dry hamster nutrition throughout them. At bedtime, sleep on the floor of the room the place the hamster disappeared, and place the newspaper sheets on the floor around your head. with any luck, whilst she comes out to feed, the sound of her strolling on the crinkly paper will wake you and you could positioned her back in her cage and get to mattress. Sounds somewhat severe even nonetheless it works and it won't scare the hamster away like another strategies. good success!
