Rabbits are very sensitive and when they get a bit sick, they can die from almost anything. According to the following website, they're geared to hide their symptoms until its almost too late.

Check out this website and search around for a possible cause to the rabbit's problem. You'll need to take it to the vet, along with the "well" rabbit pretty soon.

Good luck

The rabbits must be separated NOW. The sudden hair loss sounds like fighting, but the swollen eyes sounds like myxomatosis, which is the rabbit's equivalent to the black plague.
Myxomatosis is a virus spread by fleas and mosquitoes. It's practically always fatal. The affected rabbit will be dead within the week, probably two or three days, if it does have this virus. Besides scabbed-over eyes, other classic symptoms are one or two swollen ears or testicles.
If the rabbits have no fleas that can carry the virus, the unaffected rabbit might be fine, if he is removed from the other rabbit quickly, but he might develop the disease later. Myxomatosis strikes quickly, so if he's fine after a week, he's not at risk.
Mange could explain the baldness and possibly the scabs, but wouldn't appear so suddenly. I suspect fighting.
Tell your friend not to bring the injured/ill rabbit to a clinic or shelter without warning them beforehand that they're bringing in an animal that might have an extremely contagious disease (fleas jump).

seperate the rabbits... you may not see them fighting.. i had the same thing with my two rabbits in the same cage... they are most likely fighting even though you dont see them... either that or they have mange mites or fur mites... seperate them and try dusting him with flea powder!!

It sounds like he might have mites. That needs to be treated by a vet.
