my grandfather seriously needs to know what to feed his pet ***(donkey) help me out here pleez!

Hay not straw. Hay or lucern is for feeding, straw is for bedding. There is a difference tho it doesn't look like it in some cases.

He'll also eat bread, carrots & apples as treats. Too much could be bad for him. If you can get to a feed or produce store they should be able to advise the right feed qty's and the right type of feed. They will want to know how old the donkey is and if he's just a pet or being worked. And if there's any grass in the paddock he's being kept in.
