If you are a responsible pet owner, you'll get your dog to a vet! Without any more information than you gave, it's really impossible for anyone to give you any advice at all! Is the dog bleeding? Was the dog attacked? Hit by a car? Jumped from a deck? If the dog is hurt, it's your duty to get your friend proper care!! Good luck!

There is nothing at all you can do for this animal yourself.
WHAT are your credentials for determaining the condition of this
pup?
If,indeed, the leg IS broken, you do NOT have the facilities nor the
expertise to treat this type of injury.
TAKE THE DOG TO A VET.
I'm quite sure that there are members of the veterinary out there,
reading your question ,& wondering, exactly, what planet you are
from!!!
I have a lot of suggestions for you,but unfortunately, none that are
printable, nor of any use to the dog.
Best suggestion,FIND A MORE RESPONSABLE OWNER.!!!

Get it a doggie wheel to help keep it off the leg while it is healing. With a doggie wheel it can move around with the same movement as normal (sorta) and not feel immobilized.

Play with your dog ALOT and give your dog tons of warm attention all the time. Take afternoon naps with your dog cuddled in your arms. The cuddling and warm feelings and love given to your dog will make your dog feel much better overal.

Also, during the entire time he/she is healing do not scold your dog for anything. Be positive about everything the entire time. Your dog can do no bad during this time. Keep calling your dog a good boy/girl all the time - just dont call them a good boy/girl around whatever they messed up, destroyed, peed or pooped on - if they shy away from the area, just call them over to you and pet them on the head or belly or other favorite spot WITHOUT saying "good boy/girl". If you scold them, they get nervous, and with a broken leg, the nervousness will translate as increased healing time.

If you brought it to the vet already, make the dog lay down and make sure the dog gets no sudden movements or alot of activity. Give the dog some toys and food but take it to the dog. Don't make him/her walk. My dog got hit by a taxi and her right leg dosent work. she went back to normal fast, but while she was still recovering, she has to lay down alot, and she couldn't walk around alot. she had stitches in her leg because it was holding on by a vain. Gross, i know. But true. She is still alive, but for your dog, i hope he/she gets better soon! and remember, keep the dog occupied and calm for a long time while he/she is recovering.

If you haven't taken your dog to the vet then find him a new owner that can care for him/her better. If you have then I apologize. Baby aspirin helps a bit. If he/she is under 30lbs one pill is good. Try to avoid the steroids the vets will or has tried to give you. Follow the prescription but don't expect much. Dogs heal very well, just don't let them move more than they need to until the bone sets. And give them lots of love.

Have you taken it to the vet? The best things to do is just give it general medical stuff. Keeping the wound clean is important. If you put a bandage on make sure it is not too tight (put a finger or two in) and discourage him from chewing on it. Make sure that the dog is comfortable and pay attention to him (but at the same time, if he wants space, let him be).

If you can't afford to take him to the vet, turn him over to animal control please. Think of how it would hurt to be left with your leg broken?
If there are no open wounds soak the leg in cool water with Epsom salts in it. One tablespoon per cup. Soak for at least ten minutes, towel dry. Only if there are no open wounds! Do not put salt on your doggies leg if there is flesh exposed.
Vet, vet, vet! You cannot treat a broken leg at home.
Do not attempt to cast/splint it yourself as you have no idea what you are doing. Can you imagine the pain of some stranger with no medical skills manhandling your broken parts? And what if you do it wrong?

Unless you have the will to set the pups leg yourself... you've got to get the dog to a vet...

Can be expensive - but I think its worth it... setting a broken bone is extremely emotional and really hard to do.

I mean I've reset my own broken bones on a couple of occasions and my lady friends were totally unable to deal with it... they couldn't do the reset themselves...

And I understand why. Puppy needs medical attention, so please either do it yourself, or better yet, see a vet.

Create a splint by placing a piece of wood or a stiff object against his leg then wrap some cloth/material around it to tie it to the leg. This should make it a little more comfortable as it will take pressure off the leg.

Take him to the Vet. would be the first and best thing you could do!! If it is indeed busted he may need a cast or it won't heal right and he won't be able to walk or run correctly! Take him to your doggy doctor as soon as possible!
