I have two chinchillas, a mother and a son homegrown. The mother turned 5 this year, the son 4. The son has no previous illnesses, but the mom had eye problems. They are separated, I only let them run around together once since I've noticed the mom's problems. Her fur under herchin is all matted and coming out, but the fur on her backside of her is perfect, and now the son is starting todevelop this too. My mom says it's a fungus. So how do we heal this? If untreated, what's going to happen? Is it fatal?

I am a first-time horse buyer and would like to know what to look for and how much to pay for a horse. I have some experience in caring for horses, as I boarded one, but I have never ridden one! I read books & watched owners ride their horses, but never took any lessons. I have my eye on a 15hh paint gelding (quarter horse). he is 3 years old, and has had training for trail and has went through a desensitizing program. so he is very well behaved (gentle) and broke. he is listed for $2000. he is up to date on coggins, worming, shots, and farrier. is that a reasonable price, or should i try to work it down? the owner is going to do payments with me so what would a reasonable down payment and monthly payment be? I am going to be riding him at a walking pace, I am not into barrel racing or anything like that. Anything else I should know ?Thanks!I might do private lessons with this horse if i buy him, so I can learn to properly saddle and ride him!

My daughter & son-in-law have found these people that are selling horses for 75.00.....I know...too good to be true...that's why I need help....They want me to go with them to look at the horses this weekend, I grew up with horses, but it's been a while, so I need to know some things to look for.
This is what I know, they are about 2-3 yrs old, and basically wild, (not broke or halter trained), and they are Paint...that's about all I know at this point.
Any suggestions?????

Does anyone have an opinion on the best cat litter for a multiple cat household? I've tried them all and each has it's own pros and cons. Some clump good but are really dusty, or aren't dusty but stink or don't clump well etc... What is the absolute all around best stuff to use?

I have 2 guinea-pigs which i adopted from an animal shelter. They were dumped together so im assuming they've been together since they were babies. We've had them for 5 months and theyve been good friends, but recently they've started fighting.
The more dominant and bigger one chases the smaller pig, spikes his hair up attacks him. They've been biting each other alot and have bleeding wounds. They both make these chattering noises with their teeth and you can see they dont get along.

what should i do? if i separate their cage it will b too small and maybe too cruel for them to live in. They are both castrated so i dont know why they are fighting.
Is there any way to make them friends again? please help me soon!

I want to buy a rabbit, because they are really adorable..i understand the responsibility of one (I also have a dog) but i don't know whether i should get one. Also are they hard to train or look after? What kind of responsibilites are involved?
I have a big backyard we i can build a hutch...
What breed would be good? I like the really small ones, maybe a dwarf rabbit...any suggestions? and female of male?
I'll like a bunny who likes being petted and cared for, but doesn't require so much attention that i can't take my eyes on it(sometimes i go out so the rabbit would have to be in the backyard)

If so do you recommend them? Do they breathe loudly? You can buy them at perfectpetzzz.com. they look like real pets.

Can't help but wonder why individuals on this site feel the need to make judgments that they WAY don't have information to make? I put a question out there , seeking to gather more knowledge so i did not continue to drive myself crazy trying to handle things, and i was insulted by elena and lori r. i can't believe what snooty self righteous things that they said. Elena , if you don't have the money to take care of your cats , you should not have them- sounds like you fail at being the cat lady. i'm outta here. thanks for the help girls, you're so kind.

That damn thing is so annoying. It's driving me insane. It just goes around on it ... all night!!!! My mom said I have to keep the cage in my room because it's my pet and blah blah blah. How can I stop the wheel from making so much rattleing noise? Any extra quiet ones I can buy? I cant take it off because hes been eating too much food and is getting chubby, so he needs to loose some weight!
