I used to have 2 rabbits, and I had the same problem. First of all, how long have you had your rabbits? If they're pretty new, then eventually(with a lot of patience) they will calm down, as long as you don't grab them or pet them too much. If your rabbits are a little bit older, then I can't help you much. For some reason, rabbits tend to never lose their natural instincts, which includes running away from human beings(like us!) A tip, I think that animals are a lot easier to work with when they're stomach is full of food. It calms them down. So slowly handle your rabbit, and speak softly. Don't grab your pet, or force it to do anything, or else it will view you as a potential danger.

IMPORTANT: When cutting the nails of any animals, make sure that you don't cut it too short! If the animal starts to bleed, it's extremely dangerous, due to the small amount of blood in your pet. So next time you go shopping, I highly suggest that you buy some styptic powder/pen. They're pretty cheap, and it may save your bunny's life. If you can't find any, baking soda will be my next recomendation.

Good luck!

This trick works for handling all small animals while grooming or giving medicine...

Get an old towel and spread it out on the floor. Pick your rabbit up out if his cage and set him in the middle of it. Quickly wrap the bunny up in a firm "swaddle" and sit on the floor with him in your lap, tummy side up, facing away from you. Now, one at a time, find a foot and clip those nails!

Here's another tip. If your bunny has dark-colored nails, use a flashlight to shine through them so you can see the "quick" and avoid cutting too close.

I have a mini lop and he is fine with it. I am a pet groomer and have done nails on ferrets, bunnies, dogs, cats, birds and even lizards and most of them do well with nail clipping. You can use clippers sold for bunnies at pet stores or you can use a small pair of scissors and lightly cut of the tip alittle bit at a time untill the desired legnth try not to make them bleed. For rabbits it is easier to have someone hold them while you clip their nails. Good luck

Rabbits are easy as you can put them into a trance..... to do this you need patience as they do not accept it easily at first but you need to sit Indian style on the floor with your bunny in your lap then slowly turn him on his back. If he struggles or turns back over let him do NOT try to hold him on his back give him 5 to 10 min then try again he will eventually lay there and go to sleep then you can lay him on your legs and use both hands to clip his nails and brush his belly check his ears. Do not leave him in this state for very long 15 20 min is about the limit. And turn him over very slowly so he can re orientate himself with out freaking out. Hope this helps.

Teach your rabbit to lay on it's back in your lap when you are sitting down. Wedge his head into your elbow, snugg against you.
Try wrapping bunny in a shirt/coat/blanket leaving the foot exposed before flipping him over.

Get a helper if you have to: One to hold the bunny, one to do the clipping.

Set bunny on a table and clip at the nails.

Most vet offices will be happy to have a technician show you how to properly restrain your rabbit. The links below will also describe a few ways to make it easier.

Pet him very gently. Let him sit in his cage while you pet him. Without picking him up, take your nail clipper, and try to clip his nails.

Good luck!

You could try trancing, but it usually dosn't last long enough for me.

I usually use the bunny burrito method of wrapping the bunny up in a towel, tight enough so he can't move, but not so tight that he can't breathe. Cover his eyes and pull out one foot at a time.
