I find it quite interesting that people seem to want to own an animal, but again they are not certain what they want. It's one thing to be researching the types of animals and animal care, but it's another thing for people to own an animal just to be owning an animal. To own an animal because others own them is not necessarily good. You need to own animals because this is what you want and not because you feel that you are an outcast. It's better to volunteer at a rescue agency if you have no means to care for them. Animals need love, food, shelter, and occassionally they need to see the vet. These all need to be addressed before you get an animal. I have seen way to many animals on the brinks of starvation (and some do die) just because people can't afford them. To find you can't afford the animal and to throw it away like garbage is very cruel. Please! Know what you are getting into before you take on an animal. They are alive. They are not inanimate objects.

Excellent point but misleading title.
Maybe you should have said something like "Can you afford to invest the $$ and time it takes to care properly for a pet for the longhaul?"
(I just don't want you to get reported)
;-)

I fully agree. It's even worse when you find the people who want to BREED animals, but don't know what they should breed!! How horrible of them to buy animals and try to force them to reproduce without knowing anything about the animal, it's requirements, or how to care for the young if needed. People are really getting ridiculous about this animal craze. I love animals and have several, but I only buy/adopt after stringent research and developing a true passion for the creatures I keep.

Not a question, but good point! Kudos.

(And I totally love that people are giving you ideas for pets to own rather than reading your question and realizing you're not asking for advice!! Shows how much people pay attention when they think they're smart.)

the regulations are there to ward off persons from holding a range of animals in inhumane circumstances & being a actual nuisance to their friends. The cities can implement the regulation at their discretion. no one will understand what quantity animals there are in her kin members except someone complains so she should be thoughtful of her friends with connection at the same time with her pets. i'm a procedures more beneficial than the criminal decrease yet i'm not in contact- all are spayed/ neutered, vetted as needed. My canines is approved & isn't permitted to really stand interior the exterior & bark for no reason. My cats do not bypass out, I keep my residing house truly sparkling & the litterboxes get scooped a minimum of as rapidly as an afternoon.

cats are simple to take care of. you need to change there litter 2 a week. they can be trained to do tricks better then dogs, but you have to train them at a early age. they clean themselves, they love children and family ( as long you have family coming over often), they get mad if you don't get up at a specific time. My cat wakes my up during the week at 6:00, on the weekend she leaves me alone.

Man's best friend. Small inside dog or large outside dog in large area.

Plan on spending $800.00 a year on a dog. Average vet bill $100.00. Toys, collars, leashes, houses, bedding another $100.00 and $600.00 in food and snacks. My Chihauhau's teeth just cost me $400.00 at the vet.

I'm not a pet person at all. I don't want an animal in the house, or in the yard.
