My betta died and i don't know if i should throw the tank away.

So the Betta fish i asked about on here a few days ago still hasn't died. You know, the one that looks like he has internal bleeding in his head? Well, I have been trying to take really good care of im...

i clean his bowl every day instead of the usual twice a week.

I added Melafix to the water to try to help him too.

I thought the reason he stopped eating was because he didn't feel well enough too but... my fish is blind

I noticed a few days ago that his eyes were red and treated him as soon as i saw but... he is BLIND

i did the mirror test. Unlike my other healthy Bettas he did not respond at all to his own reflection. He cant see the food so he cant eat.

I don't know what to do now except keep treating him, changing his water and attempting to feed him.

Does anyone know what i can do to help him. And, does anyone know how long it should take him to die... it makes me sad to keep taking care of him in his condition.

We just started a new tank last Sunday and have a Gorami (sp?) and two other little tiny fish along with a sucker fish. A friend of mine came over with a Christmas present for my daughter... a beta fish and added to the tank. She said she inquired at the pet shop as to whether the fish would get along with my other fish and they said fine. She said as long as there were no other beta fish in the tank it would be fine. So far I think they are doing okay, has anyone had any problems with them?

Also, when do I change the water? We have a well and the ph levels etc are fantastic so I am told by the pet store. We have a biofilter motor... I understand there is good bacteria on the filter thingy that spins around, but do you clean that ? I guess I am just clueless here.

Thanks for any help!

I'm setting up a ten gallon tank. What freshwater fish are best to start with, and how many?

I just bought a Ram Cichlid and some Kribensis Cichlid's, how long will it take until they get acclimated to the tank and actually start swimming around more? The ram is just sitting there right now, I floated them in the water for 30 minutes, poured some tank water in their bag, etc..I bought 3 Kribensis Cichlid and only 1 ram, is this normal behavior?

Here are the stats:
(a) Well-established 29g planted freshwater aquarium. Over 2-years running, frequent water changes, adequate filtration, the works. The plants are unkempt and I'm not terribly concerned about 'em. I haven't tested pH in awhile, but I imagine that the aquarium water isn't terribly hard or alkaline -- it's a mellow tank w/ driftwood, flourite, and lotsa plants.
(b) Current fish: a 6" pleco, a beautiful 8" angel, and 3 fat and healthy clown loaches.

In a nutshell, the tank is healthy but boring. I'd like to add more "energy" to the tank -- I was thinking about adding several more clown loaches, 'cause large schools of loaches are cool, but thought that different active midwater fish might look better. I'm not sure how the angel would treat smaller fish ... probably like popcorn.

My tank is not in front of any window and does not get sunlight at all. The light is only turned on for about 8-10 hours a day, in the day time. I have checked my level in my tank and they are all good. Any other ideas?

I have had this tank up and running with two filters on the top for about 6 months or so. I have 3 neons, 3 zebras, a china alge eater and a plecostomus. I have been doing a 20-30% water change once a week and i cant get it to stay clear. I feed my fish once a day and only a little pinch (sometimes i don't think that enough food for them). I have add gravel from my other tank to it thinking that would help but it has not. Please help!!

I think mine are pretty darn spoiled...clean water, weekly gravel vacuums, food 2 x day, treats like blood worms & brine shrimp, no predation, lots of rocks/plants/hiding place, able to reproduce with a high survival rate. It's a fishy heaven!

On the other hand...I wonder if they would prefer (if they could prefer) living in Lake Tanganiyka...or wherever they are originally from.

Or am I just weird for thinking up these kinds of things? :o)

Your thoughts?

I tried the car radiator leak stopper, but it just turned the water a funny color and the fish are starting to move slow.

i have a large water garden with 5 fancy fantails. ive just noticed some agression in the pond. just wondering why and what makes them bully each other around? i have 1 female and 4 males and 1 shubunkin. the aggression i have noticed is some tail nipping. this makes me worry about introducing my huge fancy to them in the spring.
