Sorry, but your new fish is a particularly agressive fish. They are strictly solitary and are known to kill other fish. Remove the fighting fish immediatly. Hope this helps!!!

Maybe you should have your water tested and see if there isn't another cause for the dying as far as the disappearing they could be sucked up into your filter system depending on the size of your fish. Bettas will eat smaller fish if hungry but I've not had any problems with any betta I've had in my tanks. Bettas get a bad wrap because of their name but I can assure you they are generally peaceful fish unless there is another betta in the tank. Have the water tested and another thought is maybe the betta had a disease from the pet store and when you introduce him it affected the other fish in your tank.

Never ever put 2 male fighting fish together, they will fight to the death!
Whilst they are supposedly, as a single specimen a community tank fish, this often is not the case. when buying a fish observe its behavior in the shop you bought it from. is it in a tank on its own? if so then it should be kept on its own, if it is in with other fish, are they a similar size?
Any book on fish-keeping will tell you only to keep 1 male in your tank. It should also be noted that as with cockerel fighting, bear baiting and other animal fighting, it is a criminal offense to deliberately put 2 males together thereby causing a fight.(hence their name).
there is also a chance that the fish you bought may be harboring a disease that is killing your other fish. if this has been ruled out get your self another tank for it.

Did you check your water parameters? Is your tank fully cycled?
A male betta fish can peacefully live with certain other fish, just not another male betta. He might be eating/killing your other fish if the tank and the fish are both small.
Fish are like people.....they can either be good or bad. I had a male and female betta in my 46g community tank and all was well. The male got old and died and my new male betta was a holy terror.

the reason not to keep male fighting fish in with other tropicals is simple male bettas in the wild and captivity are great preditors feeding on masquito larva and small fish. neons and other small fish pose a threat to his offspring so hell kill all fish in the way of him reproducing so stick him back in a good size vase or jar were hell be fine he will also kill the female if he isnt ready to breed very picky fish.

It's highly unlikely that the betta is killing your other fish. Contrary to what others here have said, they typically are not aggressive to other fish (except other bettas).
Without more information on your tank setup it's impossible to diagnose the problem.

thats the problem u need to put the fighiting fish in a sepret jar or boul because it needs to be alone or with another male fighting fish that is the only reason y all your fish are dying because the male fighting fish needs to be with the same breed and sex.
