Just 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend & i moved into our new home, any way, we have 2 betta fish, 1 male 1 female, & they are in a little tank for betta fish with a divider, so the male is on one side & the female is on the other side. Well, we've had 'em for 3 - 4 months already & the female fish, since the move, seems to be frightened and is always hiding behind her little tree. Everytime we go to feed 'em, she swims around like scared, & she doesn't eat. The male one is ok. What could be wrong with my female betta? could it be just a phase or could the move to a new house have affected her? We still have them on the same place as before. Please help!!! thanks.

I have spawned 2 broods...both lived for only a week, then they died. I feed them Small Fry food for the first week and had not yet started them on brine shrimp. I looked into getting a sponge filter, but the people at the pet store said that I did not need it (all the research says to though). I can not find one anywhere in my area. Is the filter my problem? I have an airstone, but again, the pet store said it was not needed. I have a bio filter that came with the tank (5 gal), and I thought about putting foam and small mesh (to keep the babies from being sucked to the foam) around the intake to use as a filter. Will that work? I don't want to spawn again and loose those too.

I had a mated-pair of twin-spot gobies in my aquarium. Unfortunatly, one of them died. I would like to buy another mate for the lone goby, but I know that you need to mate them with their opposite sex or they could kill each other.
Does anyone have any advice for determining the sex of a twin-spot goby and/or successfully pairing them with another.

Much thanks, in advance!

My mother buys her goldfish from the same pet shop, without fail. Her fish die about every six months - like clockwork! I am sure she looks after them, yet there they go, floating to the top!

Could it be that the pet shop have bred goldfish with short lifespans to make more money???

One of the golfish in my backyard pond has slowly gotten more and more bloated in the abdomin. At first I thought she was pregnant, but she (he?) just kept getting more and more bloated. It started to lose some scales now. Although the goldfish looks painfully bloated it continues to swim around with the others looking for food. It eats well. What is wrong with it?

I just bought 3 fancy tailed guppies, and 4 neons. One of the guppies was pregnant and had 18 babies today!!! Congrats to mom! Here is my question...How many babies should survive? All of them are out swimming around in the tank and they are not being bothered by any of the other fish. I found this odd considering most fish will torment babies or kill them. I guessing that all the other fish are to small themselves to be any danger to the babies.

He eats both pelleted and tropical flakes, and has about 6 plants in there with him. I would like a tankmate that would pretty much have the same requiements. Any suggestions?

I have a 45 gallon tank set-up with a few live plants and a large piece of dirftwood (with a hollow spot unforounatly.....) I purcashed this fish and one other about 4 months ago. He was fine untill his partner died. So just him and the alegea eater. Problem no.1, he NEVER comes out. The wood piece I have in there as two spots where he can go in and choose not to come out. You cant see him at all. Not even for food. Why have a fish if you cant seem him? If he is out and you walk by he zooms right back in the log. When he is out, he will pick on my algeage eater and terroize the other fish. I recently as of three weeks ago added 4 new small african cichlids(2 of which are beautiful bumblebees). They are about an inch. My blue fish is about 4inch. Even though I completely rearanged the tank, he thinks the log is his. Problem number two. He moves gravel at the rate of a construction crew!! Makeing huge piles over night! None of my other fish do this, and this has been going on forever.
