try doing a large (50%) water change today and in two days with bottled spring water. I would also suggest increasing the water movement by adding another aerator. You could try feeding him some pureed beef heart to improve his heatlh, but pellets for bottom feeder should do well.

I guessing this is some sort of Ornamental Catfish and not a Native one that was caught by you from one of your local waterways?
Regardless - it's not hard to feed a Catfish (as they will eat nearly anything).
Here's their profile ...

It's normal for them to stay at the bottom, and of course they are going to open and close their mouths to breath O2 through their gills. If it looks more rapid or deeper than when you first got it then that could be a problem.
Things we still need to know are:
- How big is you tank?
- How long has your Nitrogen Cycle been complete (and in fact - are you sure it is complete?)
- Do you have a Freshwater Test Kit for Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates and pH???
These are important things we need to know to help you narrow down what's going on. Also - when was the last time it did eat, and what did you feed it.
Good luck!

You need to make sure the water is dechlorinated (with those drops) and feed it! ****. Why can't more people LEARN about pets before they get them??? It's disturbing and sad to find that so many people care so little about the health and well-being of animals. Why don't you call a VET instead of sitting around on the internet, where you're almost SURE to get a wrong diagnosis?

It needs air in the water, you need a filter or an aquifier (think thats what its called, something to put bubbles of air in the water) try that, good luck.
