I have a 20 gallon fish tank with a Oscar and Algea eaters. Just in the last couple of weeks the water has been turning green. I cleaned the tank. Cleaned the filters. And it's still really dirty. Any suggestions? Please help!

I have a male blue betta with 1 black molly (used to be more but the other 2 died somehow maybe the betta did it) and 4 schoolers (1 very small,2 about 2 inches, one 3 inch) a small catfish that grows to the maximum of 3 inches and a pleco that hides in a rock all day and runs in the rock everytime we get near the tank (used to be small but now hes about 5 inches) ive only seen the betta generally only mess with the molly but the molly isnt scared of him because hes constantly next to the betta(example, the betta will flare and chase the molly the molly runs then he goes back to the betta again)its something i see often now but the betta doesnt flare at the molly everytime they get close only sometimes, ive had the betta for about 4 months now and i never witnessed him killing any fish i just assume its him when we go to sleep and about 1 month ago the smallest schooler (they have long pretty fins) got his fins ripped off and just recently i thought it mght b the betta but its stil aliv

I currently have a 20 gallon rectangular TOP FIN tank I bought from PetSmart earlier this year around February 2006. When I started the tank I put in a plecostomus "pleco" which was then about 2 inches long. Since then the pleco has grown to be about 8 inches long and seems "crowded" in the present aquarium. I have been looking at 50-55 U.S. Gallon aquariums. My problem is which one to get, a taller shaped aquarium or a long rectangular aquarium. I think that the rectangular shaped aquarium would give the fish more room to swim back and forth. Since "plecos" spend most of their time on the bottom, would it not be better to get the rectangular aquarium to give it more bottom swimming space?

Thank You!

I have a Tetra Tank and I noticed one staying near the top of the tank. I thought maybe he was sick. I started to change the tank and as I was getting it out I notice his fin was barely hanging on. When I put the net into the other tank for it to swim out of the net, it came right off. Now it tries to swim but it just goes up and down. It came off where the fin starts so it looks normal until you look closer. My tetra's nip at each other alot and I think thats what happened to his fin. I noticed there is one particular tetra always nipping at him. I don't think it was caused by any sickness, but I'm new to the fish world, therefor I'm uncertain. I feel sorry for it, is there anything to help it or will it die?

Does anyone know a good way to clean the residue on a freshwater aquarium's filter? The filter hangs on the back of the aquarium, and it has salt-like residue on it. I have tried to scrub it with a brush, but haven't been able to get the filter clean on the outside. Any help is appreciated-thanks!

My beloved goldfish, Glitter passed away yesterday. I don’t want to simply bury her in the yard with no fanfare, I would prefer to at least play a song in her honor. Any thoughts on the final song?

We have a long arm/clawed shrimp at work (freshwater) who is carrying eggs. They are bright orange, and I'm not positive on the species identification. I was hoping someone could let me know how to properly raise them from larvae to shrimp. Any help is great. Should I start them on rotifers?
