I have a Tetra Tank and I noticed one staying near the top of the tank. I thought maybe he was sick. I started to change the tank and as I was getting it out I notice his fin was barely hanging on. When I put the net into the other tank for it to swim out of the net, it came right off. Now it tries to swim but it just goes up and down. It came off where the fin starts so it looks normal until you look closer. My tetra's nip at each other alot and I think thats what happened to his fin. I noticed there is one particular tetra always nipping at him. I don't think it was caused by any sickness, but I'm new to the fish world, therefor I'm uncertain. I feel sorry for it, is there anything to help it or will it die?

isolate it in a "hospital tank" so the other tetra won't nip it further. feed it floating food that it can reach. chances are, if the fin is ripped off(not the tail), it can grow back. just make sure the hospital tank is clean since torn fins are often an invitation to bacteria. if you are still worried, go to the pet shop and look for"aloe vera water conditioner" (aloe heals minor open wounds) or just ask the clerk there. good luck:)!
ps: if the tail grows back, it might not look as attractive( it might grow back unevenly) but the tetra will still be able to swim normally:)

no could desire to put in something different than somewhat salt such as you need to be dingin besides. the terrific element to do is avert an infection from placing in by way of one utilising the salt and a pair of conserving the tank very sparkling. A nicely balanced and multiple weight-alleviation plan will make advantageous they have the foodstuff they could desire to regrow the broken fins. Please be conscious all human beings. no longer each and every little thing that occurs in a tank demands a bottle or tablet from the puppy shop. All too frequently nature can handle devoid of our innovations, no longer which you would be able to tell that to the those that could charge you for the bottles and pills although ;)

Yeah it will probably die.. It's ok though fish aren't very smart. Its all about who is the strongest fish. They pick on the sick or weak ones so they can have the best living environment. Don't worry, buy another one!

PS- they also do this if it is a female and she is having babies or laying eggs. Some fish have live births.

Just like with all injuried creatures you will have to isolate it, so the other fish won't finish him off.
