Size up to 2.5 inches max. Egg layer, check link for details. Never bred them and it sounds like a pain to breed them.

Dwarf Groumies get to be about 3 inches. They lay eggs and the male fish builds a bubble nest to protect the eggs and then he guards the nest for about 24-36 hours until the eggs hatch. They are hard fish to raise. I have had 6 in the past.

Jellybean parrot fish are injected with dye. Also some dyed fish are put into a tank with a small amount of acids and lots of dye. These fish that are dyed have a high rate of death. The ones that do live will not live their whole life and they will get illnesses easier. Also the ones that do live will eject the dye from their skin. My friend bought three blue ones and now they are their normal color. He has also have had problems with them getting sick a lot. Good Luck!

Generally the ones in the store are near full sized. Other than molly, guppy, swordtails, and guppies all aquarium fish lay eggs. They are related to betta, and build bubble nests. Mating is similar to betta, but much much less violent. Generally gourami kept together will pair off. The pair needs to have their own breeding tank. Note that most store don't sell females as they aren't as colorful.

Painted fish should be avoided as they generally don't last long. Any store or dealer selling them is high suspect. I'd avoid dealing with any one who sells these fish.

They don't get terribly big, and I'd be sure you don't have two males in the tank--I ended up with two at one point accidentally and I ended up having to move one, because they were very aggressive towards each other. Pairs are great, and a male and a few females should be fine--plus it'll give you a better shot at breeding them, which is indeed a pain.
