Hi

i have 10 feeder fish in a 40 gallon tub of water. I changed the water in the tank and about 7-10 hours later it has such a foggy look to it and a verry strong smell of ammonia. If anyone has any clue why this is happening so fast and what i can do about it let me know.

Thanks
lambo

As some of u may know from my previous questions about my dying fry with the deteriorating tails, i was thinking of getting them medicine. I told the fish store guy (hes kind of an ***) about the "pin" tail and their tails going away, and he said that i should use Trisulfa by Maradel which treats fin and tail rot, popeye, and gill disease. so i got some of that, does it sound right? Also the instructions say that you should remove your filter but then they contradict themselves by saying that its ok to use your filter if its more than 6 days old... which mine is (its at least 2-3 weeks old). Anyway i have one of those filters where you have tube and an outer box with a filter full of charcoal stuff, i think u call them carbon filters, but i dont know. why is it necessary to remove the filter? is it ok to just turn the filter off, or should i leave it on because the instructions say that its ok if its over 6 days old? what do they mean when they say a biological filter?

2 Pacus, 2 Red Fin Sharks, 2 Silver Tipped Sharks, 4 Rosy Barbs, 2 Spinner Barbs, 2 Tiger Barbs, 1 Upside Down Catfish, 1 Raphael Catfish, and a Pictus Catfish?

I have a 55 Gallon and I want something exotic in there that can hold its own!

Thanks

I want to get some koi for my indoor tank, but want to know how many inches per year they grow so I can sort out how long I have before they need to go out into a pond. I know a great deal about Koi, but no one can ever tell me their growth rate. I know goldfish do about 6 inches a year, because I breed them, but other then that I haven't a clue as to growth rate of koi!

Thanks in advance :)

My fish will sit there blowing bubbles to the top of his bowl, seeming depressed, then the next day he will be trying to jump out of his bowl, then the next day he will swim in circles ALLLLL day long......... maybe I should feed him some of my antidepressants or antipsycotics..... no that was just a joke but really I do have them and he really does this.

You may have noticed my other questions about the sick fry and the possibility of body fluke parasite. Well i really want to learn how to treat it, but i dont have a hospital tank and i really dont want to buy one (my parents probably wont let me, i dont have enough money). So can i treat my fish with antibiotics in their regular tank? does anyone do this, and does it work? I am worried that if i treat my fry in the normal tank, will it harm the healthy adults with the medicine (or salt if i put some salt in the tank to kill the parasites)? i really like my adult fry, i have a lot of them and i would be really sad if i harmed them by trying to save the fry...

also what is the cheapest/ smallest setup you can get for a hospital tank? if there is one for a really reasonable price which i doubt, then i might, possibly consider it if its the only way...

My black mollies had about 15 babies and when I came back from school, they were dead. What can I do to prevent this

2006-09-06 15:22:08 · 17 answers · asked by Anonymous

I think my guppy fry (babies) may have some sort of parasite. Their tails are disintegrating (described as pin tailed or needle tailed i think) and they have trouble swimming and become very lethargic. I have noticed that when one fish gets it, they usually all get it. They end up dying within 1-2 weeks. The symptoms i described seem to be a body fluke, a type of parasite that apparently "eats them away" (eww, i cringe at the thought!)

anway the site where i got this idea of the body fluke is
http://guppyplace.tripod.com/Parasites.html

Do you think this seems right? Has anyone had this problem with their guppies? Also, ive heard that a good treatment for this parasite is to put salt in your tank. Is it ok for guppies to have salt? What is the reccomended dosage for a 10 gal aquarium (although adding all the pebbles and shells, it would be more like 8-9 gallons)

I know that you are supposed to get a hospitalization tank, but i really dont have the money to buy one. (cont.)
