What kind of fish can you put in with goldfish (without them eating eachother)

I am so far thinking
Placostomuses
Betta (either A male or A female)
Tri-color or Irridecent sharks.

Anything to add?

I had 5 snails in my tank then one day I realized I had 3--there was no indication of what happened to them (not even a shell was left)--then today I come home and it seems like the remaining 3 are dead. The largest one has attached himself to one of the smaller ones who is all closed up. The third is just floating all closed up in the water. I noticed this weekend that they were moving sluggishly (if you can say so for a snail) but paid it no mind. All of the fish seem to be fine.

Does anyone seem to know what happened to my snails and how I can prevent it in the future

I know everyone hates snails but mine had character and were very interesting to watch.

I have been breeding guppies since about february, about 6 months now. Sometimes my fry (baby fish) are healthy and live to be beautiful adults, but sometimes they die. And the weird thing is, I always know when they are going to die because their tails kind of disintegrate, they dissapear, they go away... Its so weird. Usually, you know how fish tails are supposed to go out in a fan shape? well these fish's tails just go away, the tails just get thinner and thinner until they are really pointy and look like snake tails. So i call them "snake tail" fry. Whenever a fry has a snake tail, i know that it is always doomed to death because i have NEVER seen a snake tail fry live. Ever. They always die within a week or so, sometimes less.

I used to think that their snake tails were genetic, but it wasn't until recenetly that I began to think otherwise. I've noticed that usually the fry are born with normal tails, and when they are about 1-2 weeks old, (cont.)...............

I have a 10 gallon tank with three female bettas and I'm in the market for a new filter. It needs to be quiet, gentle, and preferrably cheap. What do you use in your betta tank and how well does it work? Information on brands and models would be appreciated, as well as price (I'm a college student so budget it kind of a big deal).

I recently had a question on here about white scales peeling on my goldfish. I was asked for updates... so here it is. Tom died sometime last night. :( I didn't figure out what was wrong, but the other fish have not been affected. Thanks for all your help in trying to solve this with me.

They are soft. In light of Steve Irwin's tragic demise, I wonder if aquarium ray patting pools will be a thing of the past.
