If I was you I would start with a 20 gal tank and that way the goldfish will have room to grow just remember that goldfish do grow fast sometimes and will grow to the size of the tank. just make sure the other fish are big enough to handle them self with the goldfish. I think you will do fine. you could get a smaller tank like 3 gal for the other fish and that will work too.

Today? a 24 or 36 inch tank, eventually, a 5-6 foot by 16+inch tank, as your goldfish will get to 12 inches.
I am curious as to the other 3 fish, but if they are cold water chances are they will match the gold fish, so best bet is to buy big now to save trouble later or build a pond :)

I would opt for a 36" tank (3 foot) as Its most commonly available and a good reasonable size to accomodate what you have. If the fish get any bigger (and goldfish can get quite large) you need to really think about uprating not only the tank but the filters, maybe even to move them into a pond
Hope it helps

I think a tank that is pretty big is ok for 5 fishes but my sister had three fish and had a very small tank and they loved it but make sure you have an oxygen breather 4 your fish other wise they last about a week or so but not long.......
make sure you put heaps of plants in the tank if you are going to get a big tank but if you get a small tank dont make it too crowded though...........................................

18" x 12" x 12" should be OK but the thing is that goldfish tend to grow to suit the size of their tank - so you may need a larger one in a couple of years and may decide to go for a bigger one now.

I hate to see goldfish in bowls or tiny tanks! Pet shops shouldnt be allowed to sell them, i think at the very least a 3ft tank remember that they will grow.
