SURE !! a fish tank is glass, which means it is not porous and can not soak in stains. Any stain can be removed. I find that getting a small dose of hydrochloric acid from a pool shop and diluting it 1 part to 8 of water (be sure to use rubber gloves whilst doing this process), filling the tank right to the top, let it soak for about 20 minutes, then depending on the size of the tank either tip it or syphon it out (don't suck through the hose, hook it onto the tap and when it starts to flow, pull it off the tap and it will revers it's flow due to gravitation.
Then just simply rinse the tank well. - Ready to use.

This method is the best for me as there are NO chemical cleaners involved to leave residue and the glass will be cleaner than when you actually bought the tank.

Hope this helps.

I'd suggest a quarantine period for the tank of at least 24 hours (filled up to it's top level with a percentage of Bleach). You could let it sit longer if you can tolerate the fumes.

Just make sure you do not use soap or any kind of surficant for that matter (because even if you were to rinse and rinse and rinse the film from the soap/surficant will still leave a residue and could kill your fish - not to mention do damage to whatever biological filter you may be trying to setup).

IF it were me - 24/48 hour bleached water soak (make sure there are not leaks in the glass or silicon), and then drain - rinse again - wipe down with a piece of cheese cloth, and then fill it up and cycle away.

Sure, just make sure that you clean it well before yo put fish in it. Soap and hot water will kill most of the bacteria lurking about the aquarium. If you want you could rinse with bleach just make sure that you rinse out the aquarium really well before putting in fish.

Yes, how dirty could a reptile possibly be? I used to have an aquarium with baby turtles and fish. It was an intersting habitat.

Yeah!!! There are water frogs called African dwarf frogs. They only grow at most two inches and are great with fish. They are not aggressive and very cool to watch swim around. Also axolotls are very cool I have three. They will eat fish though that are smaller then them and they do better with only fish they can eat :P And its ok to feed out door insects but you have to remember depending on where you live watch out for pesticides they may have consumed if you live in a tight nit neighborhood. There are lots of plants at Petco that do not use soil for their plants/ They plant them in foam stuffs. They also sell the frogs at Petco :D

if the seals are good yes but you must be sure to disinfect the inside of the glass and clean it thoroughly before introducing fish into it.

i wouldn't do it. The tank could be contaminated by something. Even if you washed it out with soap and water it's still not a good idea, the soap may contain contaminates.
