You know what, ignore all those ridiculos answers. those people dont know what they are talking about, you really cant a fish to the vet, nor do they know for a fact its gonna die.

First of all, is it a female? Male are the ones with the really long pretty tails, and females are very tiny, and are pretty dull. If for sure its a female...

Usually when a female is floating head down, tail up, thats the breeding position that she would take if she was ready to breed with a male. if her stomach looks bloated, look at her closely. can you see little eggs? if not, it could just be bloat. Over feeding. Dont feed her for about a day. If she has white moss like growth starting to grow from her fins, that is called Ick. You would need to go to the pet store, and get drops for the water. Also, what are you feeding her? bettas like betta pellets, live, frozen or freezed dried bloodworms. make sure she is on a healthy diet. Check these tips out, and im sure its one of these things I mentioned. Im sure she will be alright!! =)

When you describe the fish swimming towards the bottom of the tank or bowl it sounds like it could have a common condition called "ick" this is a fungus that can grow on the fish, and they will glance against objects in their bowl since they don't have any little fingers to scratch with. Fish stores sell medicines to treat ick and it can be cured if caught early. If this is what your fish has you may see a whitish substance on her fins or scales.
Being sideways at the top of the bowl is a bad sign that your fish may not be long for this world. Good luck, and I hope she makes it.

I don't know, but mine just lay's sideways on the bottom and has been doing so for about 4 mths. Doesn't swim at all. Come's up to eat but it's hard for mine to swim. How long has your's been this way? That's what matters. I thought mine was dying but it's still here. Good luck!

Sorry, but when a fish acts like this, it is awfully sick. Call a fish store. Maybe they can tell you what is wrong and have a medicine to save your fish. Good luck

The fish is going to die really soon. If you put it in the freezer it will die faster with no pain or suffering.

i don't know but i stopped buying betas cause they all died on me. they're pretty boring and they die so fast. i don't take death very lightly so i don't bother with pets that don't live long.
