No, fish maintain homeostasis by maintaining a certain amount of water in their bodies. Their bodies automatically do this so they do not get thirsty. In saltwater fish, they must expend more energy to maintain homeostasis so when the concentration of salt is higher than normal, the fish get stressed.

only if its out of water. the gills need water to work. see the fish breathes in water then the water not needed goes out the gill

my 4yr old ask that very thing just the other day I told her to go to school and find a way to talk to fish and ask them she told me she would when she got older so now we all got some thing to look forward to
