Of course they can, and do sometimes. A huge catfish was caught with a big ball in it's mouth not long ago. A fisherman had to dislodge the ball, and the poor catfish swam away again. Sometimes they eat something too big, or sometimes they eat too much at a time, and can block their throat not allowing any more food to be swallowed.

Yup they sure can.
Greedy large mouth catfish have the tendancy to choke on their food. Example: Red Tail Catfish
Mine have choked on trying to eat a large carp and trying to eat the oxygen ball ><
They don't get hurt though because it just vomit everything out if it can't swallow it.

They don't have lungs/airway/larynx, so no they won't choke, but food Can still get stuck in throat.

I think they choke on air almost the same as we choke on water.
If their gills get clogged or blocked somehow they would probably choke too.

Not really. Fish don't breath through their throat. They can try to swallow something too big get it stuck in their throat, or digestive system.
