A single guppy should be fed a very small amount of food once a day. The amount should be about the size of his eye ball, and disappear in under 2 minutes. Guppy prefer a diet high in vegs as well as meaty foods. Make sure the food includes both. If you intend to stick with live bearers (molly, platty/swordtail, guppy) an algae based flake (Spirulina) might be in order. (It should list some meaty stuff, but it doesn't need to be 1st.) Also guppy like a little salt. Add 1 teaspoon of table per 5 gallons. (Be sure to dissolve it in water 1st.) If you are only going to have live bearers in the tank increase this to 1 teaspoon per gallon over 5 days. (Ich, and velvet hate salt and guppies can live in salt water if the change is gradual.) If you are using large amounts of salt get some kosher, or rock salt from your grocery store. (Iodine is good, but anti-caking agents aren't)

Watch you fish and see how much they eat--a couple times a day is good. Fortunately you shouldn't have to worry about overfeeding like with goldfish, but leftover food makes the tank yicky. (If your tank is big enough and you ever feel like branching out, try a little catfish--they'll eat the leftovers happily. Nature's vacuum cleaners.)

I would tell you it depends on how many guppies you have to know how much food to give them.
I would give them one pitch of food at least once in morning and once at night. but not too much to stay in the tank.
