My dog got fleas. I am flea dipping her and bombing the house tomorrow. Someone told me that I need to do something to the back yard too, so she wont bring them back in the house? Anyone know what/how?
Also, do I dip the dog or bomb the house first? I've never had fleas before, so its grossing me out and I dont know a whole lot about how to fix it! Help!
And, FYI, I did just notice them yesterday and the vet gave me the Advantix today, so we can prevent future flea problems. thank you!

Well i got a labrador retriever/Border collie mix July of 2006 and she was 6 years old. Well we tie her out on a leash for about 15 minutes about 4-5 times a day(the leash isabout 12 feet long) , well she pee's and poops all over my dining room floor atleast 4 times everyday. i will be completely honest i don't take her for walks and she has gone on a long walk in 3-4 months ( i feel horrible about it). My questions are if i take her for walk(s) will she stop peeing and pooping on my dining room floor if not how do i house train her? how long should her walk(s) last? and how many walks a day should i give her?

Please don't tell me to get rid of the dog, im ready to do whatever it takes to take care of this dog, my house is very big (7 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,a large fenced in backyard, dining room, kitchen, living room) so it's not like she didnt get any exercise. she's very hyper. if you can't help me with my questions please don't answer.

oh and she's 52 pounds.

What natural concoction can I make to rid ear of (an ear infection?) If this is what she has, I want to be able to keep her from shaking her head and flopping/itching her ears. I ask for a natural way to cure it like Apple Vinegar which I found helps which I found through Google. What else can help?

My dog sits in my lap. Sometime she will turn towards me and sit up on her butt and put her paws on my shoulder and stares at me. Sometimes she takes her paw and tries to touch my face. What do you think she is trying to say?

Anyone have a baby with a young pup? My latest pit bull has been the baby but now we're expecting our second child... She's great with our four year old, and she likes to chase the cats and lick them against their will, but what self respecting dog doesn't chase cats... Any suggestions getting her used to the baby? Oh, and any answers from trolls or people who hate dogs, pits or people being happy, you will be ignored and laughed at, so go ahead and embarrass yourself. Real answers only please!

Hello. We have a wonderful little yellow lab in all aspects aside from puppy biting. I'm at my wits end with her, having tried all the normal responses. Our vet told us to put a finger on the back of her tongue and press. She kept biting even as we did it. We tried pressing her lips against the teeth like he said but you can't get your hands close enough without MORE biting. We've sprayed her with water bottles but it only stops her for a second and didn't help long term. We've tried yelling or yelping when she bites too hard but she doesn't seem to care. She never looks concerned or stops. In fact she'd bite harder like now our hand is a squeeky toy too. At the clinic I worked at we learned submissive positions to use so she knows we are boss, and she does them wonderfully until you let her go and she immediately bites again. She likes EVERY brand of bitter spray weve tried as well as raw lemons and jalapeno peppers!!! HELP!??!!??

I just came home from the vet where I was told that my nine year old chihuahua has a condition called pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus. On Monday, she needs to undergo surgery where the vet will spay and remove her uterus. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this disease before and if so, what are the chances that my dog will come out of it okay? I am so worried and anxious that I can barely stand it. My dogs are like my children.

While making it short and to the point.

There are so many things I would like to say to people who ask me about my APBTs, but the average person doesn't want to be lectured -- I know if someone was explaining the entire history of their dog's breed to me I'd become annoyed.

How do other APBT owners (or the owners of dogs seen as monsters) explain things to curious strangers?

I have a 4 month old black lab puppy. We have been dealing with a diarrhea problem with him since Labor Day. Our vet is certainly helpful, but I thought I might get some insight here.

He was on Iams Smart Puppy Large Breed. When the diarrhea began (it was severe enough that he was waking up all night after he was quite housebroken), he went on metronidizole and amforal which immediately helped the problem. 1.5 days after being off the meds, the diarrhea returned. We did the same meds course again with the same results. The third time, we changed his food to Purina E/N and he went on metronidizole and amoxicillan. Problem cleared up and he went for about a week off the meds before it seems, today, to have returned. He's again back on metronidizole and we changed food to Hills Z/N (hypoallergenic). Other than the diarrhea, he is perfectly fine and healthy. We're at a loss to figure out what is wrong. Has anyone had a similar experience? What could be the cause? Thanks so much!

I like brindle colored dogs, but if brindle meant paying a whole lot more I'm not sure I would. Would you pay extra? I guess the same could be said about paying alot for a purebreed, I'd definitely pay good money for a well bred dog.

Ok i hve this dog and i have already asked this question before no matter what i do my dog will not go to the bathroom outside. somtimes he does bt then in other times he won't. He loves to play outside so i know he is not afraid of the outdoors. And yes i stand out there with him sometimes for over an our and he won't go he will hold it until he comes inside. It also happens when he is on a leash, or when i tie him outside. On a nice day i leave him out there all day and bring him in at night and then he goe in the house as soon as he comes in. I have rubbed his face in it before to and tell him no but he still goes he doesn't care i dont know what to do please help.

I have a 9 month old Boxer/Boston Terrier mix. He has been eating Pedigree puppy food dry his entire life. Two weeks ago he started throwing up his food. He would eat in the morning and throw up 10-12 hrs later. The food did nto look like he had chewed it and it was not digested at all. Still whole peices of soggy dog food.
Vet said may be regurgitating since not chewed. Switched to wet food and he did fine for about 3-4 dayd now not throwing up, but has horrendous diarhea.
I don't know what to do. I'm scared to switch him back to dry because he doesn't chew it and throws it up, but I can't give him wet and have him get dehydrated.
Any ideas?

I want my dogs to participate in a local dog costume parade, but I don't want to use any of the commerically available dog costumes. In the past I used a toddler costume which was at least creative among the dogs. Do you have any ideas for creative and easy to make or assemble costumes for my dogs?
