Hello. We have a wonderful little yellow lab in all aspects aside from puppy biting. I'm at my wits end with her, having tried all the normal responses. Our vet told us to put a finger on the back of her tongue and press. She kept biting even as we did it. We tried pressing her lips against the teeth like he said but you can't get your hands close enough without MORE biting. We've sprayed her with water bottles but it only stops her for a second and didn't help long term. We've tried yelling or yelping when she bites too hard but she doesn't seem to care. She never looks concerned or stops. In fact she'd bite harder like now our hand is a squeeky toy too. At the clinic I worked at we learned submissive positions to use so she knows we are boss, and she does them wonderfully until you let her go and she immediately bites again. She likes EVERY brand of bitter spray weve tried as well as raw lemons and jalapeno peppers!!! HELP!??!!??

try putting your hand in something that tastes really bad and then let thr dog bite you and see what happens

sounds like a normal puppy, doing normal puppy biting cause that's how puppies play with other puppies. They don't realize it hurts.
You CAN grab the snout and wrap your hand around either the upper jaw or the lower jaw so the lips are against her teeth. It works quite well. You just haven't gotten the hang of it. You probably need to practice more and develop some speed. I'd just reach down quickly and grab the jaw of my pyrs from above and wrap my hand and gently press as I said firmly but calmly, "you DON'T want to do that"
I alternated with 2 quick fingers to the nose firmly enough to make the dog sneeze, saying "NO Bite".
An alternate to the finger on the back of the tongue is to make a fist and push it into her mouth, but both these work better if you hold the dog by the nape of the neck so it cannot back off of your hand.
Regardless of which method you use, it's not instantaneous. You have to do it repeatedly for a while.
I never had any luck with bitter sprays either... but my chewer DID hate hot pepper sauce, so I bought it in a quart bottle at the grocery store and got GREAT results.
You're doing the right things. I've given you a few added ideas. You just have to keep doing it till the dog understands. and you have to be quick enough on grabbing the snout so that the dog doesn't just bite you again. It's just a game for the dog until it realizes it's hurting you. Your pup doesn't want to hurt you. Your pup just doesn't understand.

Same problem with my pit bull pup when she was little, and it is a phase. Yelping and the like will probably just excite her. I think the spray bottle is enough to distract her. Keep it on hand and give her a squirt, say NO firmly, then offer her a chew toy immediatly, then praise ALOT her for chewing the acceptable item. Another thing that works is a bunch of change in a little plastic box, when shaken makes a noise that will startle her. Your mistake is that you spray her and it DOES work, it stops her, but you are not offering her the RIGHT thing to bite! She MUST bite, as she is teething (knocking her baby teeth out and her adult teeth coming in), plus as a baby, she is exploring her world with one of her strongest senses, her mouth. All you need is that follow through. Within a few days you will notice which chew toys she likes best. Rawhide? Frozen socks? Wet a sock, tie it in knots, and freeze it, and it makes a great chewy. Just be patient and consistant, and she'll get over it in a few weeks.

She is smart, isn't She? She has got You so well trained that You have forgotten that the whole thing is just a game to Her. Take Her outside and tie Her up. Leave Her there. do it everytime She plays the 'bite Me' game. Labradors hate being left alone at night. See what happens.

When she bites, get her off of you and leave her alone. She won't like being alone. Every time she bites leave the room or put her in confinement until she calms down. Keep trying.

put pennies in a metal can. While you are playing with him/her and he bites shake the can. The sound will scare him... and then tell him "NO" right after shaking the can. He will begin to associate this annoying loud noise with biting and stop.

puppy like to bite but if its to hard tap him on the nose a little so he will feel and say nothat will work good luck

honestly I don't think the putting your finger in the mouth helps at all. When my dogs tried to bite when they were pups, we smacked them hard on the nose. use your hand or newspaper. thats the dogs punishment for anybad thing they do.
