That's probably the best guess as to what my dog is actually. :) Since the dog is a mixed breed, you can't really tell anything about them other than it won't get larger than the German Shepherd. Read up on border collies and german shepherds and just prepare for the worst (very smart, troublemaker.)

Congratulations! The fact that you spelled the breed correctly entitles you to free membership into the GSC (German Shepherd Club)! ;)
Seriously, though, any library, book store, or veterinarian can help you, as can a simple web search by entering the words "german shepherd", with or without the quotes, into your favorite search engine. But, you already knew all that, right? So go do it, already!!! ;)

old boy died last year. he was 17 years old. i miss him so much still. they are an excellent family dog. very loyal. very protective. my old boy was brilliant with kids too. you need to take em for regular check ups. feed them a good balanced diet. i used to mix veggies in with he's meat. and always fed him at the same time as the family. no chocolate.unless its doggie stuff. nice bit of pigs liver once a week as a treat. watch the back legs as the dog gets past 6 years. and they need two good walks a day. i always walked him for an hour in the morning. and half hour in the late evening. they respond better to love and being a part of the family unit than threats or shouting. but do require firmness of command. i hope you get as many good memories of your time together as i have. good luck to you and your dog.

German Shepards are really actually gentle... When you train them right they make Fantastic guard dogs.. They are really cheeky as puppies though! I know on wethat ripped up 8 toilet rolls in 1 hour! So keep them away from that

Hip scoring, ask your vet or look it up, bad hip score----hip dysplasia.
Skin conditions, some can have very dry skin.
go to a German Shepard rescue site and email them for more info.
