My dog, 5 years old is scared of being left on her own (which is not very often) how can i make things better for her?

Meaning, all of the Shi Tzu, poodle, pomeranian, etc. mixes that are being sold at common petstores as pure breed or a new breed, for thousands of dollars. Most "new breed" owners say look at my rare dog... I just laugh and say "you paid what for that?" I have a Dalmation mix that I adopted from the shelter and he's great. People with money to burn will never learn that just because it has a high price tag doesn't mean it's the real deal or that it will have a good bloodline. If anyone has anything to add or discuss feel free to respond.

The puppies are 19 days old and the mom just over the past day or so stopped feeding as much. I've noticed that she waits sometimes up to 7-8 hours between feedings. Is this normal? Puppies are healthy...mom will go into whelping box and clean them a little then as they are all riled up and ready to eat she leaves. Do I need to be supplementing now? They have no teeth as of yet but you can sure feel the little nubs....it won't be long. Thanks for any info ya'll can give me....I guess i'm just worried for these little ones!

my dog has had about 3 BM's (bowel movments) yesterday. i saw that it didnt look right so i got a flash light, and i saw that there is something that looks abnormal. it was BIG too, it almost looked like a worm, but it didnt move. then i got some gloves on and put it into a container and put the container into a baggie. the vet is closed cause of the ice and bad weather we have been having here. im nervous that this is something bad, he's been like this for about a week or so maybe. i didnt notice it before though. he's stomach doesnt sound upset, he's eating and drinking just fine, is this somthing bad???? will it hurt him if i CANT take him to the vet since it is closed?? i have the stool sample ready for when i can go to the vet, but what can i do until then? today he hasnt pooped i dont think, could it just have been something he ate?

I have 2 pugs. One male and one female. The female is 1 year old and the male is 4 months.

For some reason, and I have been doing everything the books tell me to do including the cage, the female refuses to become housebroken! Any tips?

I forget what it's called and I want to buy one. Although, it'll just be plain dog food until my pup is older. He gets a really upset stomach from treats:(
The vet's told me about it, it's rubber....a kong or something?
Does your dog like it?

I am looking for proven facts rather than opinions of why I should NOT feed my dog the supposedly "dangerous diet" of raw meat, bone and natural suppliments such as Fish oil, Kelp, grated Brazil nuts, Apple cider vinegar etc.

I know bulldogges usually smell, but has anyone ever conquered this problem with Beano? At this point, I'll try anything.

This usually lasts about 5 mins & afterwards my dog just lays down & pants for about 30 mins. I was thinking it was a seizure but something like this isnt in the description. This has only happened twice in the past 2 months. Any ideas or has this happened to anyone else?

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should get a dog right now. I have been wanting one for quite some time, have been researching them and live in an apartment that allows dogs. I have a pretty good work schedule (I get off at noon everyday, M-F), so I will have time to spend with my new pup after I get off work. However, I'm trying to decide what will be the best thing to do with him/her while I'm working. I have a hallway (wood floors) that I can block off from the kitchen and let them play around in the hallway and bathroom. however, I'm a little concerned if they get bored and get to digging and scratching up my hardwood floors. I can also just close up the bathroom (tile) with a puppy gate..that away they don't feel as trapped as with having a door closed. What do you think is the best thing for a pup?

I did call animal control on him today. I was still undecided as of last night, because... Well basically, I have to live next to this guy for a long time. Plus he's a cop and I didn't know if I was ready to go up against that. Late last night though, my daughter told me while she was outside playing that one of the dogs paws is bleeding. The little girl that lives next door, told her dad about the dogs foot and his response was, "He'll be okay". Right then and there, I decided no matter what, I was going to call animal control in the morning. So now it's morning and I did call. I looked outside and the dog is limping around. It's leg or paw is obviously hurt. They said they would send out an officer. So we'll see what happens. Poor doggies.

Thanks again for the advice.

hiya, I have two really nervous dogs, very badly treated in their past lives, I've had them for nearly two years and its only in the last few months that they've handled going 'out of our home'. this is abit of a daft question - when I am lead training for walks out, am I okay training them both on the same side at the same time or one side each? pls dont say one at a time as I dont have time for 4 walks a day. they're scared of everything, one sticks to me an 1 trys to scarper at the first sighting of just about anything. yea a daft question, just wonderin if anyone has had the same type of exerience, oh and I prefer them both on one side, samelead then, cheers all, *

I have a puppy who is about 6 months old. He potty trained very well. Just two accidents then no more. I also have a German Shepard/Alaskan Husky dog. He's about about 3 years old.

My problem is that they fight over EVERYTHING. I will give them each a toy/treat/food and they fight anyway. My older dog was perfect before puppy came along. I know he's trying to defend what's his. They even fight over us! Is there some way that I haven't found that can stop this fighting? We don't tie out our dogs. They would just howl and I think it's wrong. We have a nice back yard for them to run in and they are allowed inside almost whenever they want to be. Will the puppy out grow this??? Or will we have the fighting forever??? It's driving me crazy.

Just so you know, I didn't plan on getting another dog. We were happy with just one but I found the puppy hungry and bleeding when walking home from school one day. I took him home to feed him and we just ended up keeping him.

I would like to hear more about these pups. I have one, and she is the light of my life, in the hound dog department as least. She has eye problems, her temperament is that of a character on a silly cartoon...for lack of a better analogy.
