I would like to hear more about these pups. I have one, and she is the light of my life, in the hound dog department as least. She has eye problems, her temperament is that of a character on a silly cartoon...for lack of a better analogy.

Oops, she is 5 years old, sorry the word "pups" is misleading. Does anyone else out there have any more info on them, the web is not very helpful for this breed, as they are not AKC.

I have friends that breed them.

They tend to have 'hard' temperaments, or at least they 'should' if they are well bred, they are bred to hunt wild hogs.

Generally a good breed in the right hands, not so good for a 'soft' owner though. They are very much a working dog. Yours is five, you must be doing fine with her!

Most of the Catahoulas that Ive met have been adopted as adults, and are out of control. Make sure to get her into some puppy classes so she learns what is appropriate behavior and how to control herself. Shes cute now, but there is a hound dog in there somewhere waiting to come out.

Their full name is Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog. They are protective and territorial. They need to have a dominant, strong leader or they can become aggressive.

How fabulous! I never heard of Catahoulas. Love to hear more about them myself.

I just googled them, they are characters alright. Have fun.
