Aw bless her....the thing to do is put ur coat on walk around a bit but while your doing this don't make a fuss her say goodbye, after 5 mins go out the door...60 seconds later go back in....don't make a fuss even if she runs to you....take ur coat off (and no eye contact) and get sorted...then say hi....after 5 10 mins repeat the whole process again but this time stay outside a little longer and then go in again.....doing the same as before.
It teaches your dog that you are coming back and that he /she doesnt come 1st.....also leave the radio on and there is a toy that I have for my dog that you put little treats in and that keeps them happy for ages!
You have to quite patient but it does work! Good luck!

Hi Best thing I can suggest is to work on training with the dog you have. Your idea has it's merit, but you may also double your trouble, by betting that another dog will cure the problem. You might however, see if you can work something out with a neighbor or friend who will bring their dog over, and you can try your theory. Based on what you said [5 minutes], you should have some kind of idea, if this will help. If it doesn't help, you know it's not the best idea at this time, and can then focus all your efforts on training. Best of luck.

Give your dog a job while you are gone. Do not make a big deal out of leaving or coming home. Purchase a Kong/fillable toy/bone and fill either/both with peanut butter (health-food store without salt/sugar) or cheese whiz. Next add some dog cookies inside. While you are home your dog has a job, he is watching you! While you are gone he has no job. All dogs need jobs.. they have no concept of time... 5 minutes/5 hours all the same.
A brisk walk prior to leaving can also help him settle in with his treat filled toy.

Get over your anxiety about leaving the dog alone and that should cure it.

Give her some BACH rescue remedy. You'll find it in holland & Barretts, boots and some supermarkets. I gave it to my dog when he was pine-ing for my other dog that I had to have put to sleep. It did the trick. It's all natural and can be given to animals as I e-mail BACH to make sure and they said that it was fine.

Above is a good suggestion. Also try leaving the TV on while you're gone. This is called "separation anxiety".

She's obviously used to people being around all the time. We used to leave the radio on & leave toys with our dogs, that might help.

Have you tried leaving a radio or TV on while you were gone? Worked for a friend of mine.
