I would like to give my german shepard a different food, I was thinking canidae or innova, he currently has pedigree dog food. He has been eating this food for 2 weeks and I want to switch but how should I introduce the new food? Should I add a little of the new stuff to his current food and increase the amount gradually? By gradually that means how much per day? Sorry if this seems stupid but I am not sure and dont want to upset his tummy..thank you for serious answers.....what are your opinions on the canidae and innova? Sorry if I didnt spell them right but you know what I mean.

The dog is a one year old border collie mix and has been living with us for two months. He is very sweet and well behaved when we are around him. Anytime we leave our house he starts whining and yelping immediately, he will scratch at the doors to try and get out of the house. We have tried to crate train, use products such as Comfort Zone with DAP, homeopet anxiety drops, bark collars, etc and nothing has worked. We exercise him regularly, practice our comings and goings for short periods of time and he has plenty of chew toys such as kongs, stuffed animals, and bones to keep him busy during the day. Our vet recommended we see an animal behaviorist and put our dog on essentially doggy-prozac. The behaviorists we have spoken with will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $450 to $600. The dog is great but I'd probably have to return him before I could drop that much money on him. He attends doggie day care 2 days a week and obedience class 1day. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know that normally Old Navy carries chirstmas dog collars during this time of the year. I don't live close to one so I haven't checked their stock yet, but they have none online. Does anyone know of another store or online location where I can buy them?

I believe that he ate one... I went out shopping and came home to find a wrapper with his teeth marks on it by where it was left. I'm not sure if his weight matters, but he is a biggen, a 8lb 4ounce dog, well for his size. I'm scared that something bad might happen to him, possibly death, & that wouldn't be good. He only ate one, but it was the darker colored one I believe, it's part of the "christmas" tradition where they sell all 3 kinds together, one in a reddish wrapper, one is a golden wrapper, and one in a silverish wrapper. Please, if you know anything.. let me know. It's very urgernt. I'm also terrified for what might happen to him.

I recently got a 8 year old Rescue Dalmation. He has had 2 homes in his 8 years so we are told and due to his recent owners home being sold by the owners she had to part with him.
We have a 7 year of Pit and a 5 year old Chihuahua and they all get along great, however, The Dalmation wants in the house all the time, My dogs come in during rain and extremely cold weather during the day and always at night but otherwise stay out during the day. How do I deal with his constant whinning at the back door and attempts to get out of the yard? We have a high 6ft fence but he has tried to dig so we have had to become creative in stopping that. Any advice, we do not bring any of the dogs in during the day if there is no reason and he just paces and cries.
any helpful advise to help me get him to stop this would be appreciated.

Should I switch from Royal Canin: Labrador Retriever to Authority Harvest Baked Adult Chicken? I know, you guys are going to say "Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, California Natural, etc is better get that." Well those extremely high quality brands are very expensive and Petco/Petsmart don't sell em... But I do want the very best for my dog, and Royal Canin is costing me 40 bucks a month! I heard Authority Harvest Baked is better, and cheaper too... Should I make the switch?

Okay for all of you out there that have decided to judge me for moving to a place where the owners said I had to get rid of my dogs, I guess I need to clarify since you are judging me.. The owners KNEW I had the dogs, and it was stated to me by the husband of the condo that I could keep them, THE WIFE, has decided SHE DOES NOT WANT DOGS HERE! So do I want to get rid of my dogs? NO, they are my heart and this is not easy to do so instead of judging me to make me out to be a bad pet owner ask the situation. AND for the ones that suggest I move, when you pay the rent here for the year lease that I signed so I can move then that will be an option for me, until then I had to make a decision respect the owners wishes or put my kids and I out of a home. So if you are willing to pay so I can relocate then hey I am all for it, I would love to be able to keep my dogs.. You do not have any idea how this is breaking our hearts. So judge someone else.

The vet told me to give the dog this dewormanizer(sp?) pill after one week of the visit. I can't find the pill. Is it bad if the dog doesn't get it's pill today? The week after the visit from the doctor?

Well my dog is like 14 years old and for some strange reason he limps in the spring for about 2 weeks and then hes fine. We have taken him to the vet to get him check out and they said that it was just some bone problems but he will be just fine. But i think otherwise.

I'd love some advice on how I could help him overcome these fears as they seem to be getting worse. He used to just sit out in the rain and howl but now will bite at the fence and do whatever damage he can as he gets so freaked out by the weather. He refuses to sit in his kennel and just cries to come in. Any suggestions? He is ten years old.

If you shine a flashlight on the ground, and a dog starts chasing it, can it kill them? I personally don't think it can, but two of my neighbors seem to think that it can cause brain damage or a heart attack. However, I tried this out with a dog last night, and she seemed to be enjoying it. Please help!

I am crate training my almost 4 month-old golden retriever. he has never had an accident inside his crate and waits for me to take him outside to do his business. every morning and after each feeding when I let him out, he follows me to the front door and goes outside to potty. but when i let him play in the living room for a little while, he'll just randomly go pee or poop again on the carpet. My friend had a dog and she advised that i stick his nose in the mess so he can smell it, then spank his butt with a newspaper. That way he sees that its the newspaper hitting him and not my hand. I thought this was kinda mean but anyway, any suggestions without being physical?
