It's not a good idea. They might be okay, or they might get diarrhea, or they might get the whole shebang, with vomiting, diarrhea, etc that will require a stay at the vet for treatment (xrays, bloodwork, IV fluids...). Or they could chew off pieces of the bones, which can get stuck anywhere in the GI tract, from the mouth to the colon. They can cause intestinal perforations that require surgery in the best of circumstances, and are fatal in the worst of circumstances.

No. Those type of bones splinter too much and the sharp edges can hurt the dog's digestive tract. It would be like giving chicken or turkey bones. Ouch! My dog loves bones, but I give him big ones like shin/femur bones or the ones you get from a chuck roast. He really likes the marrow part that lines the inside of the bone.

If he is not use to eating bones I'd say no.

If your sure he cannot chew up the bone or pieces he will be OK.

What I do with my small dog is hold one end firmly and let her chew the meat off the end. She really enjoys it.
