I believe that he ate one... I went out shopping and came home to find a wrapper with his teeth marks on it by where it was left. I'm not sure if his weight matters, but he is a biggen, a 8lb 4ounce dog, well for his size. I'm scared that something bad might happen to him, possibly death, & that wouldn't be good. He only ate one, but it was the darker colored one I believe, it's part of the "christmas" tradition where they sell all 3 kinds together, one in a reddish wrapper, one is a golden wrapper, and one in a silverish wrapper. Please, if you know anything.. let me know. It's very urgernt. I'm also terrified for what might happen to him.

One will probably be okay, although I would watch him very closely for symtoms like nervousness and trembling. It's a really good idea to call your vet or poison control. They may advise you induce vomitting with hydrogen peroxide if you know he's eaten it within the last half hour. I hope he's okay!!

If he does not act strange or different then dont worry about it. And also it is natural for an adult 3 year old chihuahua to weigh 8 pounds. If he is 10lbs and up then you might want to contact a vet and see how you can let him loose weight. ANd also if he is acting strange contact a vet and make an appointment. Im sure he will be fine if it only was one. But your not even sure if he ate it or not i mean someone could have ate one and missed the trash can and the dog picked it up. So dont worry okay everything will be alright.

Keep the chocolate away!!!!!
Keep an eye on him, Ferror Rocher has very little chocolate so there is less of a chance but he may still get sick.
My dog did something similar with a full box of chocolates, that is why I now have child proof lockc on all my cupbaord doors. He turned out fine, although I had alot of cleaning up to do around my house.

Just watch him. If starts acting abnormal, call your vet's hot line #.
Last year my terrier got into a pound of Godiva chocolates and ate all but one.
She had an upset tummy for 2 days, but that was about it.
Make sure to keep plenty of water out and if he wants to eat grass when he goes outside, let him.
It helps to soothe the tummy and in some cases they will eat enough to make themselves throw up to relieve the tummy discomfort.

Chocolate is bad for dogs, but he will be fine. Just keep your chocolates where he can't get any more. The only dog I have ever heard of that died from chocolate ate a 6 oz bag of chocolate chips and she had just given birth to a litter. That was a Dalmatian.

Chacolate is never good for dogs and since yours is a toy breed I would consult a vet.He would of course become ill so I would also keep an eye out just in case. Hopefuly it's not enough to make him sick.Play it safe and ask for a vet consul over the phone that way if neccesary you can take him in.

Hello, Elizabeth.
I myself have a (teacup) chihuahua, and she ate 3 pieces of left over chocolate covered cherries (About 2 years ago). I about freaked out. I did take her to the vet, and they said, she would be o.k. To this day, shes still going strong. She is now 4 years old, and I buy these dogs chocolate covered yogurts for dogs. She loves em, and I no longer worry about these chocolate over doses on her. God bless you for loving your little animal and asking a great question.

For your piece of mind, take him to your vet. If you don't have one, contact one right away. My cat was dangerously close to some rat poison a while back. I rushed him to the vet, because I wasn't sure if he'd gotten into it or not. Thank God, they didn't find poison in his system. It cost me a little money (about $40 for the checkup and the bloodworks), but it could've been so much worse if he had gotten to the poison and I hadn't taken him in ... Good luck and God bless!!!

I think your pup will be fine, just watch him closely for anything that seems out of order.

My terrier ate a whole bag of hershey kisses when we went out for dinner. Other than the constant eating of grass & horking, she was fine. Of course, she eats everything!!

I was more upset over the NEW, NEVER OPENED bag of Kisses that the dog didn't share.

I think you should not worry this time. But it does not mean you can give him one chocolate each day. You can never know when one chocolate will be the fatal one. A dog could eat chocolates always without nothing happening but suddenly has an attack. I repeat YOU CAN NEVER KNOW ..... THE DANGER IS ALWAYS THERE.My love to your dog and good luck to you.
