my german shepherd Zeev passed away unexpectedly last august, but i still can't seem to get over it or even begin dealing with it. he really was the world's best dog and i still can't think about him without bursting into tears. he was a great guard dog and he protected us for 7 years, but he was the sweetest 115 pounds of dog there ever was with his family. i've done the picture collage thing, the writing thing, the "think of the good times" thing, the new dog thing......i just can't seem to grasp what happened and how quick it was. and now whenever i visit my parents (where he was living-he was too big for my apartment) i just get so sad and it almost ruins my trip everytime.

does anyone have any suggestions? what did you do? did it help? should i get another german shepherd? how do i start to get closure?

thanks!

I have a 7 months old Jack Russell, he has plenty of toys, chews etc, and gets walked twice a day, however he's just started digging in my garden. I now have three holes in my lawn. One of which is huge, I keep re-filling it, but he just goes back and digs it out again. Would having him done, calm him down and stop his digging?

I need to know things like whether they shed? Is it heavy shedding? Do they have sharp claws? Would the claws cut through our furniture (it is leather)? Do they retain smells? Etc., etc. ...

even if i'm not acting any different than usual, my dog seems to know when i am sad and he'll come up to me and start licking me ever so gently and then if i'm laying down he'll come and lay his head on my shoulder and let me hug him for as long as i want.
how can they tell when something is wrong?

Well, let's put it in perspective, instead of getting all emotional over a poor wittle, stupid chicken.

Have you ever *SEEN* a cockfight? Of course you haven't.Therefore, you DON'T know what you're talking about,do you?? All you are doing is reacting to the AR/peta propaganda, aren't you?

IF you actually did any REAL research, you *MIGHT* have a basis for your argument.
Since you DON'T,why don't you try...

"How can anyone equate a cockfight with bank robbery, murder, rape, arson or ANY other major crime against HUMANS with "LETTING" a gamecock(bred for NOTHING ELSE for thousands of years)display it's natural instincts?"
Do you realize that EVERY attempt at regulating animal/human display-going way back to bearbaiting & beyond-WAS NOT in the interest of any *possible* damage to any animal BUT to keep the HUMAN in line? As in "BAD people!!Why aren't you at work or in church or at home, tending to your chores, instead of being here, having fun, gambling & drinking!!"etc.???

"I've already made up my mind.Don't confuse me with the facts."
lol

Good post Getemgang! People just keep believing the AR lies!

**** fighting, and dog fighting as well (at least until the thugs took over) was very different than the AR groups have portrayed it.

And NO, I do not do either. But be aware that the view you have gotten from the AR groups is not at all accurate.

i have a 3 y/o terrier i got a 8 month terrier to keep her company while i'm at work. it's been 3 months now, most part they get along younger one allways follows other like a little shadow, younger one was submissve to older dog , when it came to treats, toys , food...etc. but i have noticed that she is challenging now growling back and scaring my older dog then taking said item away from her. i don't want this to happen , i want to reassure my older dog, and put my younger one in her place. but how? i've done all the reading .... pay attention to older one first, fed the older one first...let older one thru the door before younger one. my older dog has never been submissive before...except to me. not like her at all. i know she's unhappy and i can't give up the younger one.these dogs are my life, even if i could give up younger one , she couldn't adapt i'm her second family ( she was given up to me by a lady in texas i live in ca. so she was airshipped very traumatic ordeal for dog

My 2 year old dog was hit by a car today. I took him to the vet and all he has is a broken rib thank god. Now with the pain pills they gave him all he is doing is sleeping. That's great, but what should i do from here? I am afraid to pick him up because he cries and i don't want to hurt him any more than he already is. Plus they put a cone on his head so that he won't lick his road rash and now he can't get his head in the water or food dish!!! HELP!!!
