I live in the south, the deep south (lol) and it gets really hot, so we shaved him...just so you know that its hot everyday, unless it rains which it does quite a bit lately

I have a 5 year old pug and he is really lazy. I take him for a walk about every other day. Just make sure it is not too hot outside because pugs don't do well in the heat. I can only take my dog on like a 10-15 minute walk before he gets too tired and I have to carry him the rest of the way home. He is a good weight though and the vet says he is in good health. As long as your pug is active around the house and gets enough exercise inside or in the yard, you shouldn't really have to take him for many walks.

Also, I wouldn't bath him too much. Their skin tends to dry out really easily. Plus my dog gets ear infections really easily when he gets water in his ears they get worse. I only bath mine like once a month, or if he gets really dirty from something. Just make sure to brush their fur a lot to help with the shedding.

Pugs, we just got a Pug a year and a half ago, and he is sooooooooo adorable!!! We are learning about him daily! I would say you might want to read online for Pugs, and care of and/or also go to your local library for a book or to your pet shop too. The vet. also gives great advice on all kinds of things! However, personally speaking we have noticed that Pugs need to be bathed, for their skin, and their folds by their face, more frequently than the average dog. A good walk, later on in the day if you live where it is hot especially, daily is a wonderful thing for any breed!!!!!!!!!!:) Good luck! They're awesome breeds, ya gotta love 'em!!!!

Pugs are actually very delicate dogs. I had one growing up and a few of my aunts have them. As your dog is getting older, he still needs his exercise, but be aware of any signs of stress. Pugs are known for breathing difficulties, so you don't want to exert him. Go at his pace, not yours. If he needs to sit down and rest, make sure you let him. Kneel and talk to him for a minute or two then resume your walk. As for bathing, don't overbathe your dog. Once a week is the max for an aging dog. If you don't want to do it that often, do it at least twice a month. Pugs have naturally oily skin to help keep their coats manageable, so you want to let him build those oils back up between baths, but you don't want him to get so oily that you can feel it on your hands after you've petted him. Hope this has been helpful.

Well I have a pug and she likes to go out anytime for walks but a couple times a day is usually good.Bathing can be fun but it does not have to be real frequent.Sometimes a dip in the river or stream or lake can have the same effect as bathing and it is a lot easier.

They were actuly breed in China so they could stick them in them robes so they could keep there masters warm. ( they sat in little pockets). This was used in winter. It sounds weird, but it is true.
