What dose it mean when your dogs teeth chatter? I've heard somewhere that that might mean they are in pain? Our dog is old (12 years old), and i was just wondering what might be up with the teeth chattering. Thanks in advance.

He was fine one day and the next morning, he was ill & in alot of pain. Took him to the vet that morning. The vet explained the x-rays to us & showed us that one part of his stomach was bloated. The other part near his rectum was compared "normal" to the bloated part of his intestine. They didnt say anything was wrong with the unbloated part. They said they needed to keep him for observation to make sure his bowels didnt twist, or anything. We went home, and I wasnt worried. I was confident that we would pick him up in 24-72 hours. Because that was the amount of time they said they wanted to keep him in case there was surgery needed. At 2 am in the morning, the vet called & said they were going to operate. About 7 minutes after that, they called and said his intestines were dead, that they were not able to save his intestine so he needed to be euthanised. I am heartbroken. Why did they "observe" him for 10 hours b4 they operated? Could he have been saved? I feel like they let him die.

How to you get a puppy to stop pulling you when you are walking him with a leash? He has done great with all other training. But we are having trouble with him pulling us. Before long he will weight about 70lbs and would like to get this under control before he is 1yr old. Hes a boxer, 5months old, 45lbs.

Thanks

Has anyone had a young dog with Demodectic mange? My puppy has it and has been dipped once in dipp that contains amitraz. I really dont want to have to have him dipped in it again. Has anyone had a puppy with it and just allowed the puppy to outgrow it?. Or has anyone had any luck with anything else that worked on this type of Mange?

Thanks,

My black lab sometimes barks so much that she begins foaming at the mouth. Is this normal? She's had her rabies vaccination and a recent vet visit, but this aggressiveness worries me.

I want to re-do my small backyard from grass to either rock, or mulch. Because grass is really hard for my dog to deal with, and cutting it is a problem. But if mulch stains my dog's feet, then i don't want to do that either. Any suggestions?

There seems to be this ongoing argument on here regarding whether 'Mutts' (not my expression!) or Pure breds are healthier. Could someone enlighten me.... I was always of the understanding that because some of the extreme features in pedigrees are watered down in mix breeds that they tend to be healthier (i.e less wrinkles, more appropriate proportions, longer noses, less breathing problems etc). But I have come across breeders on here answering questions implying that pedigree dogs are healthier. Any vets/professionals have any opinions on this matter????

My dog is a 9 year old shetland sheepdog, is very loyal, and normally is fine at staying put when outdoors without being tied up. Lately, she has been sleeping a lot more and keeps wandering really far away from the house when left outside for even a few minutes. She is also very restless and seemingly confused. We took her to the vet and it was inconclusive. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any idea what it could be?
