I want to re-do my small backyard from grass to either rock, or mulch. Because grass is really hard for my dog to deal with, and cutting it is a problem. But if mulch stains my dog's feet, then i don't want to do that either. Any suggestions?

First of all, if you are renting, you had better ask the landlord if you can re-do his backyard!

Pea gravel is good if you can find it in your part of the country.
Crushed rock would be the second choice.

If you leave your dog outside while at work, etc.put up a portable run, add a dog house and some shade screen.

Rocks can dry out the pads long term. Mulch can also be a problems because as it breaks down, there can be mold. Grass is easier for the dog to walk on.

You have to replace mulch every year. And rock is hard for a dog to lie on. The grass is the better solution.

well mulch is ok but then you get termits,
concert is not good for a K-9.
But if I was you I would go with what they call pee gravel.
Its small and smooth you and your K-9 will enjoy walking on it
with out the worrie of hurting your feed. Also you can get a grass that is walkable on. It grows like a carpet that will allow you to have a soft walking also.

hyou might have problems with putting mulch in your yard. Does your dog like to eat it? that could pose a medical problem, also cleaning up after them wouldn't be easy either. concrete would be the safest thing I guess. Do you leave them in the yard for a little fresh air, if you do you may want to put a throw rug out there fot it to lay on instead of the hard concrete. gravels would be another thing that would hard to clean up after them , some dogs will chew on stones and ingest them. good luck

Mulch isn't necessarily a problem for your dog, even if it stains the paws. Go ahead and mulch it. The stain isn't permanent.

Go to the nearest provider of mulch, there should be a natural one that doesn't stain.
