It is totally unfair to the animal. Pets need vet care, including dental. Besides shots and check ups they get ill and they get injured. Pets will need a vet.

She is an 11 week old Sheltie-Bichon mix. She is very affectionate, playful, smart, cute and wonderful. My only beef is that I want her to be a cuddly lap dog. It seems like she doesn't really want to be held or petted very much. She likes to sleep near us but not on our lap on right next to us.

Our dashchund goes mad when the postman comes or when someone comes to the door, its like something clicks in his head and he loses it, he is the loveliest dog in the world, hes so loving and very soppy. When our cavalier barks as well in those situations, he goes for her. The other day he chased her out of the kitchen, she yelped and he came back with her fur in his mouth. I dont know what to do, they hate to be separated, can anyone help?

We found a lost dog (a mixed terrier). We have seen her attacking rabbits. We would like to know if terriers genetically attack chickens also as they attack rabbits. We don’t want our chickens to be hurt by any mean.

She had her rabies shots about a year ago and as far as i know she hasn't been bitten. But I laid out on the pool deck yesterday and brought her out with me and played with her for a bit and then noticed there was foam at her mouth!!! Is that a sign of dehydration or something? It only happens when I take her out! Is she ok?

He goes outside all the time to go to the bathroom, but every once in a while he pees in the house for no apparent reason. Never goes #2 so I know he is potty trained.

My parents just bought a 8 week old puppy. My dog, who is 5, dosn't like her at all. He barks at her and tries to bite her if she gets close. How do i help him understand that shes not here to visit and that she's here to stay and to get along with him.

Also i would like to know how to help my other dog who dosn't care about the new puppy, not feel like she's been replaced and not get depressed.

I have a puppy, and he doesn't seem to like his science diet food. And is it better to gove a dog dry food (that comes in a packet) or canned meat food?

I have a Jack Russell who will be 2 in Nov. He is my life, my baby, my sweetheart! If you can't tell, I'm a HUGE dog lover! Always had at least 2 growing up. So, now I work full time and go to school in the evenings 2 times a week. My bf (I live with) helps out a lot because of my busy schedule. However, I will be done with school this Dec. and home right after work every night. A freind of a friend, etc. has a girl Jack Russell who is fixed, trained and 3.5 yrs. old and needs a home. They can't keep her because she doesn't get along with cats. I don't either- I'm allergic. My bf isn't too happy w/the idea, but he said its up to me.Snoopy gets along GREAT w/everything he comes into contact with. I am debating it because:1) My hours, but they will change soon-I'll be done w/school soon. 2) $- I'm not rich and dogs are costly 3) If I go on vacation, my mom has 1 too, so I bring Snoopy there. She said she wouldn't mind both, but her mind can change. 4)Will Snoop like a newcomer? What to do?

I have a 9 month old shih-tzu, and every time someone knocks at the door, or when she hears something that resembles knocking, she barks up a storm. This wouldn't be so bad, except that when I have company over (not too often) she acts afraid of the person, barking at them and hiding in her crate. She is otherwise socialized, and when we see people outside of my home (like on walks, in the park, etc.) she is fine. I know this is probably because I live alone, she rarely sees visitors except for my boyfriend (who she adores) and she is protecting her territory. But how can I get her to accept visitors?

I have read many dog behavior/training books, but none have taught me how to deal with this problem.

I'm looking for the best quality pet food (dogs and cats). I'm willing to pay more, as long as I knew that it was good. Iams used to be considered high quality, but I've heard in recent years it isn't anymore. Suggestions?

I had a great dane years ago and I am ready for another. It must be a female puppy. I would prefer a Fawn, Blue, or Hallaquin. My last dog died and I miss having a dog with me. They make a good companion.

My GSD is currently on Iams puppy food for large breed. Sometimes he doesn't like to eat it all or if any. So we have to add a little bit of canned gravy train and mix in his food 3X a day, for him to eat. If I take him over to another friends house with adult dogs, he is constantly eating their food. What is the recommendation for GSD puppies. When should I switch him to large dog food. or should I try a different brand of puppy food? Right now he is 65 lbs. (yes, hes gonna be big boy) I am concidering buying some doggie gravy stuff to put on his food but I would rather him eat his food dry. (He gets 'hershey squirts' if he eats alot of canned food.)
