i need to find a good vet on long island for a check up for my puppy. does anyone have any reccomendations?

i went to yellow pages-but i need recomendations, so i dont take her to a bad one.

I think i used to take injured birds etc here - they take in wild life for free - at least i think this was the one!! my cats were cruel to the wild life. i had to stop letting them out!

VET Animal Hospital Cummins and Flinn (expensive if i remember correctly - i did not care for the service here - the vets were very capable though and the place was very clean. they required bortatell vaccine for cats here though and took a lot of my money just to board them for a short time)

For a puppy's first visit, definately to to a Vet. they are all pretty good. after the first round of vaccines are all done - at the vet. you may go to petco to get the vaccine schedule for the next year's vaccines. You will save $ doing this. Go to the Vet when ever they are sick or injured though and once every so often instead of Petco - Vet does a better examination. For spay/neuter... for the females is would get them spayed at the vet - they watch them better and it is a much bigger procedure for the girls than it is the boys. don't wait too long for the male puppy though - 5-8 months and you can get them neutered and you can go out to Calverton for that if you need to save a few bucks. if you wait longer than that it is more traumatic for them. It's a much simpler procedure for the males though. Just have to make sure they stay inside and clean for a few days. pets are disoriented after the anesthesia and can get hurt off on their own outside.
